Irregular period off the Depo Shot - trying to conceive Posted: 11-18-07 07:05am
In 2005 I was forced onto the Depo Shot I
got off of it In March 2006 I have not had
a regular period since then, I was put on
Yaz for a month in 2007. I have had blood
tests showing there is nothing wrong with
me to get preg. I was wondering since the
first ingredant in Ovulex is Black Cohosh
(Cimicifuga Racemosa) is sometimes used to
help aborsions along and is not recomended
to take while you are preg. could that put
the fetus at risk and does it actually
work and could it possibly help me to
conceive?

It doesn’t seem logical that your blood
tests are OK while your periods are
irregular. What blood tests did you take?
Irregular menstrual cycles usually
indicate that there is something wrong in
the hormonal axis of the
hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries. Depo
contraception can causes irregular cycles
and that can last up to 2 years after the
last shot has been administered. Irregular
cycles are present when ovulation is not
occurring. Without ovulation, conceiving a
child is impossible. You SHOULD consult a
gynecologist about this.
If you really are experiencing a hormonal
disorder that causes lack of ovulation you
can consider using pharmaceutical
medicines rather than herbal supplements.
Black Cohosh can cause abortion and harm a
fetus - but I'm not sure about it use for
promoting conception. Further, Ovulex is
a natural product for stimulating
ovulation that has worked for many women
TTC.
