I prefer the creams myself. A topical cream surely wouldn't harm a fetus?

If you went to your doctor and got some drops, it seems quite logical that he would not prescribe anything that would be harmful to the fetus.

That's not always true. Doctors are human too and everyone makes mistakes.
I know of a girl that was prescribed something harmful and ended up in the ER.
It also happens quite a lot with non-pregnant people.

Sure it does. But when you go to your doctor's office and tell them you are pregnant and have a raging case of pink eye. Chances are the doctor is not going to prescribe you something that is going to be harmful to your child.

And, if you aren't far along enough to be obviously pregannt and 'showing', you should inform your pharmacist when you get your prescription filled that you are pregnant.

I don't think she meant she was going to the doctor either. They sell pink eye medication at the drug store and it is a lot cheaper than going to the doctor.
The pharmacist knows what can be taken by pregnant women too.

It is an infection in the eye that causes it to be bloodshot looking. It kind of oozes - especially at night, so the person with pink eye will wake up with eyes crusted shut. It is very contagious.
