I'm not sure if I'm the only person out
there with this problem... but nobody I
know has it.
First of all, i've had this ever since I
can remember, and i'll start off by saying
I'm very healthy with no health
conditions.
Basically I go roughly 5-10 minutes
breathing normally and up to a certain
point I have to take a deep breath (people
tell me I'm sighing). I do it without
noticing but I can stop myself. When I
stop myself I can only go so long without
having to do it. It's kind of like a yawn
but I'm not yawning.
I thought it was completely normal (been
doing it ever since I can remember) but I
asked my parents about it and they looked
at me weird. Just wondering if anybody
else does this?

Does your chest hurt if you don't do this
or what?
I tried to see if I do this but I think
too much on it and do it anyways
I know that every once in awhile I like to
take some nice big breaths to fill my
lungs when I'm sitting for too long or
something like that. I just figured it was
because I have bad posture.
Do you have a problem when you run or
anything like that?

If I don't take one of these deep breaths
I start breathing abnormally. My chest
feels tighter and my breathing is short
(less air getting in) and eventually I
take a deep breath to relieve myself.
I've never had trouble with long distance
running.
Like I said... it could be nothing, I've
lived with it so far in my life (I'm 18 ).
But it could be something chronic, who
knows?
I decided to post this after "watching a
movie" with a girl I liked and she told me
later she thought I was bored the whole
time because I kept "sighing". I assured
her I wasn't sighing but taking deep
breaths. Yeah, I must have looked like an
fool.
Thanks for the reply!

Hm... Are you stressed out about anything?
Getting enough sleep and eating right?
Stress seems to be the biggest or most
common problem. A lot of people suggest
yoga probably because its relaxing and it
involves a lot of breathing exercises.
I doubt you looked like a fool. haha I
sigh a lot when I "watch movies" too.

No I'm not stressed out at all, and since
I've had this my whole life I don't think
that's the problem.
Thanks for the replies Maddie. I'm sure
it's nothing - I don't suffer from it or
feel any discomfort, I'm just curious to
know why I must do this.
