If you really think about it, we really
all have good reason to be depressed and
stressed out.
Look how hard it is now days to find a
job. Use to be you just need a high shool
deploma to get a pretty decent wage for
you work. Now your lucky if you have a
master degree and able to find a half way
decent job that will pay you enough to
just get by. Where it use to take only one
person to run a houshold, it now takes
two.
Our economy is up and our pay stays the
same. I can't remember when I did work,
the last cost of living raise I got, it's
been that long.
The goals that use to be so easy to
achieve, now seems so far away and hard to
reach.
I sit here and wonder why depression is on
the rise and these are some of the reasons
why.
So many of us are single parents, just
trying to make ends meet. Some of us have
no real skills to make a good wage. Some
of us are disable depending on the
government to support us tell we die.
Is it a wonder why depression and stress
is on a roll.
Kids growing up now have a hard road to
walk. Funds for univerisities etc.....who
can afford then anymore?
I get depressed just sitting here thinking
about all these things. Well they ever get
better. We are up against a world that is
leading us to so much stress in the work
place and being over worked. We come home
and snap at the first person we see when
we open the door.
Such a shame, it really is. Driving us all
to take medications just to deal with
everyday life.
Carrie
Would anyone like to add some input to
this?

My X use to say, "life is hard, and then
you die".
This reminds of the words John Wayne
passed on to his son.
If you ever quote this, you have to use a
John Wayne accent for it to come accross
right
LIFE IS HARD, WHEN YOUR STUPID.
Carrie made too good of a point. Excuse
my futile attemp at levety.

I agree with you, Carrie!
I'm not surprised that depression is on
the rise, especially in the younger
generations. The financial and social
pressure that is put on us is really quite
great. Though I have no means for
comparison, I would contend that debt,
addiction and general unhappiness with
life are at all time highs, especially
amongst the under 35 generation.
Me, for example... I'm $32 000 in debt and
not even done school yet. How the crap am
I supposed to pay that off while trying to
get established in the world (career,
family, other educational experiences)? I
just look at the bright side of things...
it took me awhile to look at things from
that angle, though!

It's getting more, and more that to get
ahead, you have to sell your soul. You'll
be forced to take a job with a
disreputable corporation. They will want
you to be desperate before you go to work
for them. That is built into the system.
That way they can be certain that you will
be a team player. Just like all those
upper people of Enron. The Devils
bargain. Sell your soul to be somebody,
or be worthless. Well, my boy. You are on
your path. Just promise me that you look
for a chance to swindle the Devil. It
will be your only redemption.

Nah.
I remain optimistic that I will find what
I want, and I'll work really really hard
to get there without sacrificing myself
and what I stand for. I would rather wait
tables 60 hours a week than work 35 at a
place that uses me for my desperation.
Wait.. I'm already doing that. I'm on the
right path hahaha.

marvel you are just to darn funny. I
myself was a server for awhile making
minimum wage. Wait! But, I was never
depressed. Hmmmm, something worng with
that picture. Somehow we made it. Hey,
right now I would'nt mind a job slinging
burgers, as long as it was a Toco Bell.
Wait! No burger there. Just my all time
favorite Mexican Pizza. I'd prbably have
to live in tent city here though.
You hit the nail right on the head though.
I commend you for being so optimistic.
That is the biggest problem now days. Ya
look in the local paper for a job and
there is always this one criteria you just
don't meet. Dahhhhh, a no win situation.
Now if you'll excuse me, I feel the need
for a Mexican Pizza. Wait! Dang! They
close at 2am. BTW: What the heck am I
doing up at this hour anyway? I took my
Lexepro, Klonopin and a 1/2 pain pill.
Something is not working here.

It's hard to be positive these days. The
hard work, pain and dash of hell it takes
to be positive (I know it sounds funny,
but it's true for me) is worth it, though.

Man, I hope everything keeps going for ya.
I just responded to MsCarrie about every
time I have ever been positive about
anything I was bitten on the 'ss.
I still think that my book would be a best
seller.
The Power of Negative Thinking.
I can see it now. Up there, on the late
night talk shows, the early morning
shows.

All Humor Is Sad Posted: 11-22-07 03:04am
Humor is embarrasment, remores, painful,
dark, morbid, bitter, shame.
Comedians suffer the most from depression.
Thats how they get their material.
"He didn't seem to be the type to kill
himself", said the lady. Remember John
Balushi? The really sad people out there
need your help. They shouldnt be allowed
to get any worse. Funny people found a
coping mechanism. But it's not well, As my
since of humor grows, I worry more, not
less. Sadness comes across as humor.
Laughing at what, though? With you, At you
or just at himself. A self depreciating
since of humor. The I can't get no
respect, or I was so ugly I.........
