I just want to start by saying, how dare
you, aura, say that having autism is a
blessing. Lemme tell you a story, my
brother is so autistic that he can't even
talk, to not fit in is in no way a
blessing. He is so autistic that he can't
even talk. Tell me how that is a
blessing? One of the many problems that
autistic people have is that they need to
have their schedule the same all the time.
This was well exhibited in the movie
"Rain Man". He used to get so angry when
his schedule was not exactly the same,
that he would hurt himself. It got so
bad, that he had to go live at an
institution for people that need to be
under constant surveillance. A place for
people exactly like him. Most likely what
Charmedwitch has is high-functioning
autism, also called Asbergers. He was
able to ask this question, so at the very
least he has the abilities to read and
write. The reason he has problems at his
job with talking to people is that people
with Asbergers have trouble understanding
emotion. Not fitting in due to an
inability to do something as important and
basic as that is in no way a blessing.
Being autistic is not a blessing at all.
But charmedwitch, as for your original
question, the cure for autism is as
elusive as anything. People and
governments all over the world have
designated a lot of money to try to find
the cure to autism. So far they have been
unsuccessful, but they have found that it
is part of your DNA. Now they are trying
to locate the place on a strand of DNA
that is different for autistic people.
The fish oil thing may work, I have never
heard of it though. I am not dismissing
the fish oil thing as something that will
not work and a myth, I am saying that I
have never heard of it as a possible cure.
