Getting Rid of Acne By Changing Your Diet. Posted: 11-21-07 19:45pm
Hello,
I understand that avoiding cakes,
puddings, dairy products (cheese
(including pizzas), ice-cream, butter,
custard etc.), biscuits, batter, and
generally items high in saturated fat
(burgers, pork and other meat etc.) and
eating salads and vegetables and apples
instead helps with acne.
The above is probably not generally known
and massively difficult to follow. It's
useful to look at what other people eat
and see whether or not they have spots.
Also, once your spots have gone, you might
be able to get away with some of the above
foods (in moderation).
There are also a few foods which might
help clear up existing acne - garlic is
probably the best, but you still need to
avoid the foods mentioned above. Onions
might also help a little.
Hope this helps,
Paul

Makes sense to me ... but Ive never had
severe acne, just mild. In cases of sever
acne, I believe that diet can --- to an
extent --- help, but that treatment is
more effective.
Thank you for the info, I also believe
diets can help reduce acne. I have severe
acne, but my problem is I also have weight
problem. Not overweight, but underweight.
I now look like an anorexic and it's
really stressful when people see you and
said "OMG what did u do to urself??" and
stuffs like that. I'm always feeling down
coz people around me constantly reminding
me of how skinny i am. In fact, too
skinny, that my bones are popping out.
[not exagerating]. Been drinking so many
weight gain milks and bla bla but nothing
works. So to control diet for my acnes, or
to eat all the fat to try put on weight, I
am in a very deep dilemma ((

There is a diet that began in India as a
way to cleanse the body system of waste.
It consists of mung beans and rice --- so
it keeps your weight on and is called
Khichadi. It's a simple, easily digested
stew that can prepare the body for
cleansing. Are you interested in the
recipe?
Change of Diet Only Helps So Much. Posted: 11-30-07 03:42am
So changing your diet is great for your
health and all...but in reality, eating
less dairy and saturated fat etc...really
does nothing for your skin. Unless you
are eating massive amounts of saturated
fat and those "bad" foods listed above,
this changing your diet thing is a myth.
Some people, actually majority of people
suffering from mild acne to severe cystic
acne, are genetically prone to have acne.
Changing one's diet has no effect on the
blueprints for one's body makeup (DNA).
Unfortunately, the best way to find out
when you will grow out of your acne, is to
ask your parents...And some times, like in
my case, the answer is not that great. My
mom is 56 and still gets zits...Thanks
mom!
However, there is ONE food group that
REALLY helps with Acne, and that is Fiber.
Fiber...that food group we love to hate.
Fiber helps keep you regular...in terms of
your bowel movements. In explicit terms,
if you consume a lot of fiber in your
diet, you will have to go poo more.
The more often you poop, the less time the
trash in your body has to re-absorb back
into the body. Trash being poop. Poop is
your body's toxic waste...it's the
packaging of the presents. The longer you
hold that poop in, the more trash
re-enters your body and REALLY takes a
toll on your skin.
Also, WATER WATER WATER!!! Helps cleanse
the entire body and is excellent for
maintaining skin's elasticity and natural
radiance. Helps with Scars also.

INGREDIENTS (makes 4 cups of kitchari)
½ cup whole mung beans or mung (moong)
dahl
¼ cup white Basmati rice
1-2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter) or oil
1 tsp rock salt
1 pinch asafoetida (can find in an Indian
specialty store)
½ tsp ground cumin
½ tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground coriander
¼ tsp ground fennel
¾ tsp ground turmeric
3 ½ cups water
DIRECTIONS
Soak the mung beans overnight. Rinse the
soaked beans and rice together 3 times.
Melt the ghee in a pot over medium to low
heat. When melted, add rock salt,
asafoetida (hing), cumin, coriander,
coriander and fennel. Sauté the herbs in
butter/oil over medium heat for about 30
seconds, until the spices bubble a little.
Be careful not to burn the spices. Add
turmeric and continue to sauté the herbs
for another 15 to 30 seconds.
Add the beans and rice, stirring until the
sautéed herbs have coated them. Add the
water and stir. Cover and cook for 20-30
minutes, stirring occasionally, until the
water is soaked up and the beans and rice
are soft.
I cut sugar from my diet completely and
that cured my bad cystic acne (by bad I
mean anywhere from 2mm to 1cm sized
multi-domes). So that meant no bread, no
cakes, no potatoes, no cookies, no nothing
with any amount of sugars or carbs in
them. I can take in small amounts of pasta
every few weeks, but otherwise I had to be
absolutely strict. The bane of two-thirds
of my entire life (thats 20 years) is now
being crushed under my shoe.
To prove that it was the sugar that caused
my outbreak, I consumed a moderate amount
of healthy foods that contained a lot of
sugars & carbs in them. Sweet
potatoes, bread, honey, dates (yuck),
raisins (yuck), and so forth. I broke out
immediately, within 2 days in fact. After
I cleared, I tested this again, and again,
and again over a span of an entire year to
make sure I wasn't full of it.
Today, I stuff my mouth full of greasy
fried foods, munch down on generous
helpings of meat, and let out a sparkling
smile knowing that I am immune to the
acne!1!! Okay so maybe my teeth aren't so
sparkly... just gotta get that bovine
carcass outta my mouf..
So why wait? Save a hundred buckarros
daily by chucking out sugars, and you too
can get lucky three times a day (yes uno
dos tres), and be the envy of everyone
around you!1

A healthy diet is good for your body in
general, which includes your skin, but it
has little to do with acne. I know lots of
people who eat fast food every day and
have gorgeous skin. I get lots of fruits
and vegetables and drink plenty water, and
I've had acne for years.

my skin, but drinking green tea did help
me.

If you are prone to acne these foods will
affect you, Jennifer. I am a living
example. I changed my diet to raw foods a
couple of years ago, and voila - drastic
change! And I mean drastic! I still get
the odd pimple when I have my period, but
otherwise my skin looks SO much better.
Two years ago, my brother had a birthday
party, and I had some cake, chocolate
goodies, and some chips, and two days
later I was almost right back were I
started.
