To clean mold: use borax not bleach.
Bleach won't keep it from coming back.
Borax will.

Everyone has moisture problems. You have
to keep up on keeping the mold down by
keeping that area cleaned. I have terrible
moisture issues around my sweating windows
- I have to wipe them down all the time.
If you keep it away by swiping at it every
few days, it won't be a problem.

What do you girls think about morgages?
I'm thinking of talking to shawn about
getting one so we can own a place.. here
renting is more expensive then owning..
the thing is weather or not we'd get
approved shawn makes around 12,000$ + a
year. (im taking a wild guess btw) and
places (for decent) are around 100,000$
so i went on our banks website and it said
for a 25 year morgage of 100,000$ it would
be 650$ thats about abit more then one of
shawns cheaks.. so im thinking maybe if i
get a job say 3ish nights a week say,
thrusday, friday and saturday nights or
something so i can bring in a couple
hunred every 2 weeks? minimum wage is
about 8$ a hour right now.. so what do you
think? bad idea or good?

if he makes only 12K a year, thats 250 a
week roughly.. only a grand a month. If
you pay $650 of that to a mortgage, ya'll
will be BROKE.
if you got a job, that would give u a
little extra.. but if u worked part time
it would be cutting it seriously close.
you also gotta remember bills and home
owners insurance.

and interest on the mortgage!
i don't think a mortgage would be the best
thing for you right now, sarah. do they
have housing assistance there?

There is no way you'd be approved for a
mortgage with that kind of income without
10-20% down. Hard money and 100% LTV (loan
to value) loans are very strict and tight
right now with the massive foreclosures
that are going on.

Shawn details cars, and has been for a
year and half now... we have rental
assistance, its just we NEED to get out of
this condo before something bad happens,
but everything thats for rent is 900+ and
we'd still be in a crap shack just with
another bedroom pretty well..

I'd wait.
Owning a home is great on one hand. Your
paying for something hopefully one day you
will own, but owning a home has it's own
issues. When something breaks or goes bad
you have to fix it. You have to pay for
insurance, utilities, and maintenence.
It's very costly.

yeah im aware of that... renting this this
is pretty much the same though, if
anything breaks the rental company does
caca all so if we actually want it done we
pretty much have to pay for it
ourselves... its dumb i hate it...

Contact a tenant law specialist in your
area. You do not have to pay for any
repairs on a rental. Nor should you have
to.

Ingi not everyone has moisture problems,
my parents house doesnt.
Our place does unfortunately, I dont
really know why? On the white window
lining stuff around all the windows in the
bedrooms and kitchen they seem to grow
mould, why does that happen? I never even
open the kitchen window because its
broken. They are all double glazed, its
not draughty by them either.
Sarah I keep cleaning the mould off too
because its really not good for kids to
have that in the air. I would call someone
who can force the landlord to sort out all
the repairs you need doing, especially the
windows...you're going to freeze! They
have to sort it out by law, dont let them
get away with leaving it like that.
