Depressed Because of My Appearance. Posted: 11-29-07 08:40am
Hi All. I am 23 years old. I am 5 2 tall
and weigh 90lbs. I have alwaz had people
ponting at me for being too skinny. From
my childhood i have kept myself aloof of
the crowds of the fear of being pointed in
the open. I want to look good. I want to
weigh more. I am not what i should be at
this age. I am single and alone. I feel
very depressed about it. I spoke to my
parents but they say I look good this way.
Is anyone out there pls help me out. I
need your help. I sometimes dont feel like
living cause i have never seen people
admiring me about looking nice. Do only
gals who hav flesh rights to dream of a
better living? Cant girls like me live
well? I feel very ashamed and conscious in
public of the body that i carry. Please
help me get out of this depression.
please.
Thanks

The only way you can get out of a
depression like this is to appreciate you
for YOU. You shoudln't hinge how you feel
on other people.
There are many many men out there who love
petite women, you just have to find the
right one. Easier said than done, but I
guarantee it'll be worth it once it
happens

I agree. Everyone hates how they look in
some way or another. You have to learn to
see the good. Maybe write a list of 10
things you really love about your
appearance. For example, mine would be-
My eye color
My collarbone
My bust (as long as I'm being honest)
etc.
But make sure you find 10 things you love,
and don't even think about all the things
you hate (I'm sure you could list tons)
Try it!

I agree. I spent half my life feeling the
same way. Then as I got older, I thought
to myself. I'm not trying to win a beauty
contest so what the heck. Now I am just
ole me.
I am happy now just being me. Trying to be
something you are not is the first step to
depression.

sweet pea, u are beautiful i'm sure. i
hated myself for so many years because i'm
overweight. had a bad marriage with a bad
man, he didn't help.. then had my thyroid
removed due to cancer and i really
bloomed... my mother used to harp on me
about my weight... i was 5.5 and 210pds..
she made me feel bad, until i finally had
to tell her that she had to accept me the
way i was, i finally did, and hell, i may
be fat, but at least i'm alive. i have
lost some weight but i will never be a
hard body.. i'm going to be 50 next month
and i think of all those years i was
miserable. what a waste of time. like
popeye always said.. i am what i am.. by
the way, have u ever had your thyroid
checked? that high metabolism that burns
off the calories too fast could be an
issue. but besides all that... love
yourself. every one has something they
don't like about themselves... eye color
hair color nose ears, i have heard the
crazy stuff. the list idea sounds pretty
good. i have been told that i have the
ugliest feet in the world. doesn't keep
me from wearing sandles!!!!
