Birth Control Pills - still protected during inactive week?
Posted: 11-30-07 00:34am

I've been taking birth control for about 9 months. According to my pills, I am supposed to get my period on a Wednesday. I never get it on Wednesday and always get it on the following Sunday. That is not my actual question.

I am wondering, during the time between when I am supposed to get my period and when I actually get it, since I'm not taking the "real" pills, am I still protected? It just seems a little strange that I would be protected during that time period when I don't have my period yet.

I hope this makes sense, thanks for any help!

My best friend got pregnent on one of the off times of her pills. So i sugest using a condom when you one the..idk what there called lol the off pills lol. Idk if she just messed up the pills before or if you can get pregnant when you on the off pill. Also i know sometimes when you are supposed to have your period, sometimes the pill changes it so you dont get it when your supposed to. thats just what ive heard though, im on a diffrent pill so i dont know from experiance.

Please don't post anecdotial information, especially when it isn't right...

You are COMPLETELY protected during the placebo week; the chances of pregnancy are NOT higher!!! Why? Because you're getting your period; or your body thinks it is. Even if you don't bleed, you cannot get pregnant during the placebo week.

I know, but it perpetuates the false myth that women are not protected during the placebo week, see? So it's harmful.
