Atheroscierosis of Aorta causing upper back pain? Posted: 11-30-07 13:38pm
Two years ago I had lung surgery, had one
lobe removed. I also have Barrett's
disease. My chest xrays show
atheroscierosis of aorta. I have pain
across my upper back, could any of these
conditions be causing it? If have
mentioned the pain several times to my
oncologist and to my digestive doctor. The
pain is there most of the time, but does
get intense when I swallow something hot.

Hi,
the atherosclerosis of aorta may causes
back pain. For the Barrett's Disease,
generally, no specific symptoms are
associated with. However, the presence
into esophagus of any lesion (such as
abnormal cells growth for example) or a
gastric/esophageal dysfunction and/or
gastric reflux, may also cause back pain.
Some drugs could (not necessarily) help;
especially if the pain is induced by a
gastric reflux. But you have to ask your
doctors for it.
