Fat converted to muscle, still need to lose weight? Posted: 12-01-07 10:53am
Hey, I'm 15 years old and I need a bit of
advice.
I weigh around 150 pounds, and up and till
now this has been a problem for me. I've
started playing a lot of sport, also a lot
of sports which require muscle and I have
got a lot more toned.
I can see that I have turned a lot of the
fat I had before into muscle, yet I've
lost no weight, in fact gained a couple of
pounds.
I'm happy with this but my parents are
convinced that I have to weigh around 120
pounds, they don't go on about it, but
they refuse to believe that you can loose
fat, without loosing weight. Even though
they have both commented about how I was
looking "better".
I mean I'm no doctor or anything, so can
you loose fat, without loosing any actual
weight? Should I consider loosing weight
or not?

Well none of us can tell you for sure if
you should lose weight. We can't assess
your weight now but not know your height
and bone structure and such. If you are
really worried about it go to your doctor
and have them check your out, then can
tell you if anything really needs to be
done,
But based to answer your post, you can
lose fat and still not lose weight.
Muscle weighs more then fat does therefore
if you are building muscle your weight may
not go down. If you stay active and eat
healthy then you should be on the right
track. You are young! Don't worry so much
about your weight, as long as you are not
eating junk food all the time and chugging
soda while sitting on the couch I'm sure
you will be fine! Keep up the hard work
and keep exercising!!
