I Need Advice About Sleeping Routines Posted: 12-01-07 21:57pm
i am a new mom....my daughter was born on
Sunday last. When we were in the hospital
she slept fine in her bacinet thing. the
first few days after the hospital we
stayed with my mom, where she slept in her
bacinet in mom's room. she slept fine,
only waking up for feedings. now that we
are back home at my boyfriend's place, she
refuses to sleep alone, shes screams
bloody homicide when we put her down, even
though she is swaddled and we know she is
not too hot or cold. as soon as we bring
her into bed with us she calms down. i
guess i just want to know if this is
normal and what we could do to get her to
sleep alone. we love to have her with us
but we are worried that we might roll on
her or that she may develop a habit and
not want to ever convert to a crib or bed
when she is a little older. Help me please

this is normal. she feels safe with you.
but she does need to sleep in her own bed.
it'll get harder for the transition when
shes older. plus, its safer shes in her
own bed because of the risk of cot death.
she will cry when you put her down, but it
has to be done. maybe try her in the
bacinet as its a little more cosy

Where is her crib/the place where she
sleeps? If it is a different room than
yours, maybe you can try bringing it into
your room so she feels safe with you near
by but isn't in your bed. Also, maybe try
having her in bed until she dozes off and
then transferring her to her crib to avoid
the screaming.

Agree ^^^. When Mika waslittle and i
didn't want her in bed with me anymore i
le her doze off and then out her in her
own bed. no she goes in there awake and
falls asleep by herself with no problem.
moving around alot couldconfuse her from
going from the hospital to a room with
your mum and then home. She'll settle doen
soon remember she has no idea what day and
night means let alone that they're
differnt
