Lump On Arm And Leg - lymph nodes, cyst?
Posted: 12-03-07 10:58am

Hi. A few days ago I noticed that my left leg near my shin felt bruised. It does not look bruised but there is a swelling/lump there. Although I couldn't remember banging my shin I wasn't all that worried about it and figured it would go away. Well it is still there and seems to be getting worse. Last night I noticed that I also have a small lump on my left arm just below my elbow.

I am just back from my GP. He thinks it could be enlarged lymph nodes or a cyst. He told me just to keep an eye on them at the moment and go back in a month if they are still there or if any more pop up. I just find it strange that I have two painful lumps on seperate parts of my body. I also didn't think that these areas would be where I would get enlarged lymph nodes.

Do you think it's likely that these lumps are related?

Thanks for any help.

Does the second lump has similar appearance like the first one?
Are they painful on touch?

Hi. The lump on my arm has now gone away but the one on my leg is still there. It started off as a swelling but is now a firm lump. It is on my left leg to the left of my shin bone. It is not as sore as it was but is still slightly tender to touch.

Just wondering

I have been searching the web for about 2 weeks now for some insight into what is going on with my leg. I know it has been a while since your post, but I am hoping you will receive this response.

I, too, have a lump in my leg (shin area). Mine is in the right leg right against the shin bone. They have ruled out DVT, and my family doc said she "thinks" it may just be a muscle spasm. My question is should it have lasted this long, and does a muscle spasm cause fluid retention in my leg?

I called my doc yesterday, but she still hasn't returned my call. It is not like I am a hypocondriac or something. I have a large knot on my leg and it is really starting to get painful.

I was wondering if you have been diagnosed? And if you have, would you mind sharing what you found out.

Thanks!

I am a nurse who often ignores her own health issues. Not good, I know, but I too have recently asked my orthopedic doc to look at a lump on my left lower leg. I have had now for about 3 months, it feels like a bruise. I am having an ultrasound tomorrow to rule out DVT. About 1 week ago I noticed a smaller lump on the back of my neck that is painful as well and appeared quite suddenly. My doc also looked at that one but didn't know what to say other than, "I'm not a neck guy."
I started to wonder if this is swelling lymphnodes, but why? I also have an unexplained drop in my hemoglobin levels. Cancer?? I hope not. I will be following up with an internist to get some more definitive answers.

Hi to all, I have also noticed a lump on my right leg to the side of my shin. It feels like a lymph node and I bumped the area about two weeks ago. But I wondered if any of you found out what the swelling lymph nodes were? I'm hoping yours were nothing. Please let me know. Thank you.

I had my ultra sound and found out that the lump on my leg is a superficial bloodclot and is nothing to be worried about. Treat it with warm compresses and ibuprofen.
