effectiveness of pill when taken at different times of day Posted: 12-03-07 19:43pm
It looks like I'm one of the few males to
post here, but from a family of many girls
I won't sweat it. My question
is, how ineffective is the pill when the
ingestion time changes for one day? My
fiance normally takes it at 7 am and took
it at 8 pm. I'm not concerned about
pregnancy for two reasons 1) we use a
condom also 2) we plan on adding to our
family as soon as we are married anyway.
I was trying to do some research to find
the effetiveness when taken irregularly
and also how long it would take to return
to "normal". (Sorry I'm not up with my
professional terms....I teach PE) Thanks
in advance for the help.

Well, I have learned that a few hours
won't be too bad, but 7 hours and up I
believe counts as missing one pill.
It's not too bad to miss a pill, you just
keep taking them regularly. Missing one
pill is ok and you can keep on without
having to use backup but missing 2 or
more, you have to use backup for 7 days to
get back on track( some pills can take 14
days, it should say in the instruction
paper that comes with the pill).
So, she took hers at 8pm instead of am, no
biggy just take tomorrows pill at the am
time and keep taking them regularly from
then on.
I'm always a few minutes off, so is
probably a lot of the female bc
population. Minutes happen.
But a lot of hours, that can hurt
efficiency.
Hope that helped.
