mole on eyebrow ~ should it be removed?
Posted: 12-03-07 21:24pm

I have been wanting to get this removed for the longest time being that is on my eyebrow and I was browsing the web looking for any information on what type of mole this is and if it's a bad idea to remove it. Any help is appreciated thanks. I included a link to a picture of me.

Is this mole flat or raised?
Do you have it since birth?

Yes to both. I have had it since I was born and yes it is also raised. Underneath the hair it is that normal brown color that moles are. Thanks

Still looking for more information on this, curious on what the scar might look like and if it's in a bad location that I should leave it alone.

Doctors say to beware of the ABCDs if you are looking for possible problematic moles. They are:
Asymmetry: If the mole is not symmetrical, there could be a higher risk of cancer
Border: Make sure moles have regular borders. If part of the mole is zig-zagged, or crooked, it should be checked.
Color: There should be no purple, blues, greens, red, or whites in any of the mole
Diameter: A mole should be checked if its diameter is larger than the head of a pencil eraser.
Hope this helped!

Just looked at the picture you posted and following those rules, you should definitely get it checked out or removed. It's diameter is much larger than the head of an eraser and it looks to have an irregular border.

I'll have to make an appointment soon, I had thought in my mind of removing it after october because i'm getting married in October, but seeing those ABCD's I think i'll make an appointment. Anyone else want to throw anything else out there for me, please do thanks

Hi

First off, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! From what I can see, this is a birth mark, not really a common mole. I would tell you to find a reptuable dermotologist and ask their opinion. They will be able to advise you on hte many ways of taking this off. It does not take away form your face....you have a very nice looking face! Wonderful smile! I have had so many places removed and surgically removed its not funny. As for the ABCD's in moles....this "discoloration/cell mutation" you were born with and as you grew, it has grown. I would still seek a professional if you are in the least considering having it removed. I would think having it frozen off in segments, would be the least invasive/damage to the other healthy skin cell areas. But, hey, I'm only a Fairy*Godmother! Keep us posted and good luck to you and your lucky bride! Hugs!

Thank you for the congrats, i'm very excited. The only reason I haven't had it removed yet is the fear of having some nasty looking mark on my face. Even if I could get the brown of the mole the color of my skin, I think I would be happy. Anything on the market that can change the color of a birthmark lol. Thanks for the response and as soon as I get to the doctors I will post and let you know my decision. Thanks

Hi again

What about tattoo? I'd first consult a dermotologist to ensure this is nothing more than a miscoloration. Then, I'd ask a tattoo artist what they thought. I know our (Yes Fairy*Godmother's have TATS) tattoo artist can do scar/skin pigmentation recoloration. Its kinda of a new process I am told. A lot of physicans do not like it, but what the hey...if it works and is not bad for you....getter done! I am pretty sure they can lazer this off. Might have a little red place there for a bit, nothing makeup couldn't hide! Good luck Sweetie!

Everything is now healed and I felt like sharing a picture with everyone. I couldn't be happier now that this is finished, 3 more months to the wedding so everything should look good. Thanks

Im amazed at the results of your picture!
I too have a mole on my eyebrow, mine is about 4cm long and about 2cm wide. Ive had it since birth and grown as i have!
Im considering having it removed but i will have to wait till im 18. Im not sure if its worth doing though, im worried i might have a scar.

Any feedback I would appreciate.
Thanks

So far there is only a little scar, but nothing noticable and 100 times better then what it looked like. If it bothers you, I would have it removed, I feel better about myself now that I had it done.
