Hpv Test For Men? if test is negative - carrier?
Posted: 12-04-07 20:19pm

Is there currently a HPV test for men?

I was told by a former friend that he had gone in for testing and that they did a HPV test on him by inserting a q-tip into the penis to get a sample. He said it was really painful but the result came back negative.

Can a person who has had relations with someone diagnosed with having HPV with the high risk types be actually free and clear and not have HPV?

Are they a carrier of HPV?

oh yes he's carrier and no there is no hpv test for men. The Q-tip will test for a number of std's but not hpv.

I don't think it will test for HPV either. Many men have HPV and never know. Maybe a blood test would tell? I'm not sure.

I also think I'll leave the post here, it's kind've both men's and women's health.

the only way men know is if they get the hpv wart strains because the warts will be enough evidence or if the partner was found to have it and she tells him. Like i did to my partner at the time I was diagnosed. He gave to me and he didn't had a clue he was a carrier.

One thing about eHealth forum and your kindness and respect to me has been you have been honest with me on this subject.

I have tried to learn as much as possible on this subject. When I found out I had been tested positive for HPV with the high risks, I did not have a clue what it even meant.

You could say I have grown up, and in a hurry even though I am already older than all of you.

They say you can keep your head buried in the sand and refuse to see the light of day. This man honestly believes he has never been exposed to HPV. There is nothing that I can do to convince him of the risks involved here.

Thanks to all of you.

Well if you think about it- anyone can have it and not know. He could have had it from a previous sexual encounter that he thought was completely safe because his partner didn't even know she had it. Know what I mean?

I understand what you are saying. This man told me long before we were ever together that he had gone in for STD's testing. He had really high cholesterol and he told me the doctor was going to do the STD's testing. I never really could figure out how the two conditions had anything to do with the other.

In trying to understand HPV and the risks it presents to me, my body and finding out that it now is something that I will have to live with for the rest of my life, it is a lot to think about. Also, for me, I don't know how I could be with somebody else now.

I definitely tried to learn as much as possible on HPV and came upon a number of articles which state there is no test for men for HPV. I printed out and showed them to this man.

Still, he says I have it. He doesn't.

Sometimes, we just make bad choices.

Well, good for you for doing your research! Keep taking care of yourself.

And remember, though it sucks that you have it, HPV is not a death sentence. You will (and probably already have) learn ways to deal with it.

Best of luck to ya! yes

The less dangerous types are known as warts, genital warts.

The more dangerous types are called the high risk types which can lead to cervical cancer.

There is a lot of good information on this forum which can give you help to know the difference between the two.

Good luck.

right roberta. There is two types of HPV; the wart kind and the cervical kind which like you say is the most dangerous. The wart kind seems to be traumatic because the wart are visible vs when it is cervical you don't even know you have it.

Even though you have to live with 'it' for the rest of your life is a part of your statement; however, I wanted to add a different perspective on this matter.

I believe, genuinely, that one's mind control one's body. It is the pilot; hence, the one in control.

I suggest that you choose to live your life to its fullest. I encourage you to care for your body, for it is your temple of honor. Everyone makes mistakes. Only survivors learn to adapt, overcome, and avoid making the same mistake again.

Chin up. We got your back.

You can certainly tell who the believers are when you read their kindness to you. Thank you for your encouragement. Sometimes, I have to remember there is a lot of things that I could have worst than HPV.
