Update On My Appt With the Re Yesterday...

|
I'll start with the good news first. We
think my insurance is going to cover it.
YAY!!!!! Because technically....I'm not
infertile...you know, yet. Yay!!
Technically they are treating me (or
trying to figure out) for my hairitisum(?)
the acne, weight gain, um...cd 101, and
the pain during intercourse. There was a
whole list of other issues. But it was
great for someone to really listen and say
'I think this is all related'. (good and
bad)
Ok lets summarize:
She's basically testing me for PCOS. This just
absolutely gutted me. I really didn't
understand, I mean my last ultrasound was
all clear. Evidentally that doesn't
matter. With all the issues I've had since
going off birth control (yay, the weight
gain that is impossible to get off, might
not be in my head) I guess I'm a perfect
candidate. So they to 11 vials of blood
for all the testing.
Dh has to go on Monday for a SA. (which he
is NOT happy about) Any suggestions?
Then we will set up a follow up appt with
all the result and discuss a plan of
action. She thinks it will be an ovulation
stimulant (she said something that started
with a lev..) And any other hormones that
the tests show being off.
That's pretty much it. I'm back to
waiting. But, at least things are
progressing.
Sigh...I'm trying really hard not to flip
out.

Christy,
That sounds very promising. I hope you
get your answers soon. There was a girl
on here a while ago that was diagnosed
with pcos and she ended up getting
pregnant. Cant remember who it was
though.
As far as DH goes, I have no idea how to
ease his mind. Are you going with him? I
would think that if my dh was having
issues with it, that he would want me to
go with him for support. On the other
hand, that might embarass him. I would
just ask him what you can do for him.
Mine is all up for him getting tested even
though we haven't made it that far. Im
going to wait till after the first of the
year to get an appointment for him.
Hopefully it only takes one round of
fertility drugs. That is what my best
friend keeps telling me. She tells me
that so I don't get so worked up.
Try to stay relaxed and be patient. I
know that it is easier said than done.
But try to just relax and focus on the
holidays and everything will work out.

Oh, he would flip out if I expected him to
go on his own. The problem is that the
clinic preferrs the donation be made
there, not at home. I just think it is
putting to much pressure on him. (He's
afraid as well) And I don't know how to
ease his fears. He (we) aren't afraid of
getting bad news from it, It is just the
actual...sample...itself.
I realise it's forward progess. I'm just
afraid this is going to be so much harder
then I thought it would.
I'm thinking of giving up temping until I
get all the results. Just to take a break
from everything and enjoy Christmas. What
do you think?

I would definitely stop temping for a
well. They are pretty much doing
everything that you need right now......so
a little break from it may actually do you
good. Did they say how long it was gonna
take to get results back?
I can't believe that they prefer the
husbands to do it at the office. Any man
would feel weird and awkward about that. I
think that is huge pressure for them.
Thank goodness that as for right now it is
probably covered by insurance. Anything
helps:)
I hope that you get some good and
reassuring news really soon!!

It wouldn't be that bad of an idea to stop
temping for a while. It would be nice for
you to kinda forget about it durring the
holidays. That way you don't play the
"what does this temp mean" game when you
should be focusing on family.
I would think that with going to the RE,
that you will only have an easier time
getting pregnant only because it is there
job to get you preggo.
You will be fine....we are always here for
you

Thanks ladies!
Shannah, they said it should take about 2
weeks for all the results. However, I
expect it to be longer with the holidays.
I've looked it up and I think the
ovulation stimulant she was talking about
it Femera. Has anyone had any experience
with this?

I have never heard of Femera...sorry I
couldn't be of any help to you. Well I
will keep my fingers crossed that it isn't
longer than two weeks.

Did I mention she told me I need to start
dieting and exercising? I'm pretty sure I
didn't...I'm not real proud of that.
I appologize ahead of time if I'm rude.
I'm just hungry.

I feel you..I hate dieting more than
anything in this world!!! But as long as
you exercise just making healthier food
choices should be enough. I am so one to
talk..I made shortbread cookies last night
and now I can't stop eating them...*sigh*

HI Christy
Sounds like it was an eventful day! You
must be so relieved that your insurance
will cover it. That's one stresser to
remove from you plate
I'm sure DH is just worried that something
might be wrong with his boys. Let him know
that even if there is something wrong, men
can fix the problems waaaaay faster and
easier than women. Women are born with
their eggs...men produce new batches of
sperm every day (although they take 3
months to mature). So perhaps a diet and
lifestyle change for 3 months will fix it.
My DH's last test showed that only 3% of
120 million were normal. So dissapointing.
But we started feeding him zinc and
selenium supplements every day for 6
weeks, and yesterday it went from 3% to
12% normal. That's pretty good for just 6
weeks. Oh...and we also cut out all
alcohol (that was really tough for him, as
his birthday was right in the middle of
the 6 weeks).
Where there's a will, there's a way. Just
make sure to explain that with Men, any
problems can quickly be corrected, and not
to worry.
Christy, hang in there girl. Your
questions will all be answered in the
coming weeks. I think it's a GREAT idea to
stop temping. As you know, I stopped this
months ago....it was a great burden lifted
when I didn't have to worry about temping
anymore. I found that just using OPKs were
enough to know when I was o'ing. Can't
wait to hear about your blood test
results. Make sure you get a photocopy of
the results. Here is a good site to
compare you levels.

I'm glad you are on the road to getting
some answers. I had a feeling they would
be testing you for pcos because that's
what it really sounds like. That's exactly
what I did until I finally got pregnant.
What sparked ovulation that one time I
really don't know. I think it was just a
gift from God. Keep us updated!

That's right!! I remember now. I forgot
about that. Did they put you on any meds
before you ovulated or were you still
waiting on test results?

So glad your appointment went good!
PCOS isnt so bad. Besides cutting out the
sweets and exercising its not bad. I
have became so much more healthier since
being diagnosed and following the plan. I
can't take any meds (metformin,
glucophage, ect.) so it's all being
managed by my diet, and I am happier that
way. I hope you don't have it though, but
if you do, dont worry to much. Its way
better to find out now, than years down
the road when its effects cant be
reversed.
As far as DH goes, I would try to make it
exciting for him. If he likes any kind of
adult material, pick out some of his
favorites, or buy him some new magazines.
Maybe wear something that would excite him
and make an adventure out of it. They let
you have as long as you need, so just have
fun with it. They understand how
frustrating and hard it can be, and keep
there distance so you dont have to worry
about sound.
Good luck on everything! I am so excited
for you!

I had just gotten my test results and was
waiting to see the endocrinoloigst for my
thyroid problem. They didn't want to start
me on anything until that was treated. Lo
and behold I ovulated on my own though.
They were going to put me on clomid
though.

My dh wanted to go alone to just get it
over with. He said that his experience
was awkward and uncomfortable. Then he
started to describe it. He said that they
hook you up to this machine like they use
for livestock to make sure that the sample
is pure.
Tha fact that it is a dirt cheap test was
my first clue that my dh was full of s@!t.
Once medical machinery is involved, the
prices skyrocket.
Then I realized that it just seems like
overkill. The machines are good for
livestock because they can't please
themselves on command. Humans are
different that way.
Anyway, when I finally got him to admit
that he was full of s@!t, we had a good
laugh.
Maybe your dh will relax if you tell him
this story. I'm sure he would much prefer
the simple way to a machine.
