severe menstrual cramps, spongy uterus = adenomyosis? Posted: 12-06-07 11:49am
Hello All,
I'm looking for some information to a
disorder my Gyno knows little about. I've
been having very severe menstral cramps
for the last 9 months that mimic labor
contractions. The doctor recently did a
laparoscopy on me. He found no
Endometriosis which is what he though I
might have. Instead, he finds out that my
uterus is soft and spongy. He called it
an ultra-sensitive uterus. I've done some
research on my own and the only thing I
found in reference to a spongy uterus was
Adenomyosis. Adenomyosis usually happens
in women over the age of 35, (I'm 26) who
have had children. I do not have any
children. I am totally at a loss with
this. Am I the only freak show out there
with a spongy uterus and what does this
mean? I don't seem to match anything
associated in gynocological disorder
manuals. If anyone knows anything about
this please let me know. Thanks!

It sounds to me like adenomyosis and
having a spongy uterus are two different
things that have the same symptoms. I
wouldn't view a spongy uterus as a
gynecological disorder, just a
characteristic.
I could be wrong though. Did he say you
had anything to worry about?
