I'm breastfeeding right now and I plan on doing it as long as possible...what kind of birth control can you take besides the depo shot?

You can't take the depo shot when you are breast feeding. Smile Talk to your doctor. You'll have to take something low-dose.

You can take a shot that doesn't have estrogen in it. I forgot what it's called, but that's what I'm getting put on.

Yes you can have depo while breast feeding (it is an all progesterone shot), it was the only form I could have after my son was born that was safe to nurse with. Yes you can also get an all progesterone pill. Talk to your dr they will know what you can be on. Enjoy your new little one!

From some of the forums i have seem, alot of the breast feeding moms are taking Ortho Micronor, its a mini pill, if you want to go for a pill. But like they said i would talk to your dr and see what he things is best for you.
