Unprotected anal sex - did I get HIV/AIDS ? Posted: 12-13-07 07:07am
Hello there, recently I had a sexual
encounter with someone of an unknown
sexual history and am now worried about
possible HIV infection. The encounter was
a little over a month ago(which is
generally too early to tell I know) and he
says he's clean but he hasn't had the most
stable lifestyle. It was unprotected anal
sex in which both parties were
receiving(he never finished,I did) Here is
a list of the symptoms I've been having:
Aphthous Ulcers, Appetite changes,
Swollen/bleeding gums, Poor appetite, Sore
throat, Swollen neck lymph nodes,Sporadic
fever and Headache.
I have a history of self-diagnosis and
hypochondria but I've gotten myself
worried over this because theoretically
it's plausible. I plan on getting a full
STI panel when I can but I'm extremely
worried about having anything because I
have also had unprotected sex with another
person and do not want them to have gotten
something.
Please help me out in whatever way you see
fit.
Thank you in advance

Any and all types of unprotected sex are
considered "risky behavior" and you can
contract an HIV-infection this way...but
but anal sex is the riskiest of them all.
The symptoms that you mentioned (aphthous
ulcers, appetite changes, swollen/bleeding
gums, poor appetite, sore throat, swollen
neck lymph nodes, sporadic fever and
headache) are not specific symptoms
related only to HIV/AIDS. rather, these
symptoms can be present during many other
infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS.
The only way you can confirm or exclude
HIV/AIDS is to take an HIV-test.
