Trying to Figure Him Out
Posted: 12-13-07 12:50pm

One of my very good friends is going throught something and I am trying to figure out what it could be. For the past couple months he has become depressed because of things going on with his ex. I have always been there for him and listened to him. Things have been getting really bad lately though. He had become very paranoid and says really crazy things. He called me the other night and started asking me if I was following him. He was acting like someone was following him and asked me if it was me and his ex. I tried to get ahold of him in the few days after that but couldn't. I talked to his mom one day and she said he wasnt doing very well at all. I am very worried about him. I talked to his ex and she said he has been acting the same way towards her. She said he told her he thinks me and her are out to get him. He said people are following him and cars are circling his house. His sister called me today because she said she was wondering if I could help them figure out what was goin on with him. She asked me what happened when he came down here this past weekend. I told her I didnt know because I didnt even see him. She let me talk to him and he was asking me why I was following him and what I wanted from him. I am very worried about him and dont know what to do. He told me to stay away from him and his family and take my friends with me. I know his mother is bi-polar and she was in a hospital about a yr and a half ago because she tried to kill herself. I am wondering what this could be that is causing him to act like this.

I have a friend who went through something like this. Paranoia is a Major sign of schizophrenia . He didn't have the stress of an ex to elevate his so it was bit more suttle then this case, but he was confronted by his family and it tunred out to be schizophrenia. This tends to start to show and begin its peak in late teen early twenties if it goes untreated. Definatly get him to talk to a psychiatrist about this soon.

I was thinking that schizophrenia was a very possible cause but I wasnt too sure. I dont know too much about it. I am very worried though. I want to help him but I dont know what I can do. He wont talk to me now. He thinks that me and his ex are trying to hurt him. He was asking me why I was following him and what I wanted from him. Then he told me to stay away from him and his family. I dont know what to do. I dont think his family is getting him the help he needs, which I dont understand with the problems his mother has. I talked to his sister and she told me he isnt doing well. She said he thinks I want to hurt him. She said he sees people following him and sees cars circling their house. I havent talked to him or his family in a while because I am not sure what to do. I want to be able to help him out but I dont wanna get involved when he told me to stay away and make things worse. He broke up with his girlfriend about 9 months ago. He was fine afterwards. He didnt talk about her or worry about her. Around his 23 b-day is when I started noticing him changing. He just started acting different. Then he started his obsession with his ex. Then things just started getting worse as time went by. I dont know what I should do.

That really sounds like a sever case of schizophrenia, the friend of mine went through a lot of the same symptoms, and my mom has worked with several schizophrenics. You should really get him to a psychiatrist before he hurts himself or some one close to him.
