I just started running after 3 months of
being a couch potato and I'm noticing pain
that I haven't felt before. I am only
hitting 2 miles for a start, but I've been
going out in cold weather, about 40
degrees or so. I can take the cold well,
and I can't remember having pain like this
going longer distances in lower
temperatures. Since I started (and I mean
back about a year ago) I only wore running
shorts and a t-shirt, despite
temperature.
But now when I run I am getting aches in
my ears, chest pains like never before,
and a soare throat. Is this a reaction to
running or am I just daft for going out in
the cold?
Also, would anyone have a suggested
running schedule for getting back into
shape?

Well, if its 40 degrees or so, I would be
running in a sweatshirt and long pants. 2
miles seems like a lot to start with, that
may be it too. Have you done running or a
sport that involves running before or is
this ur first time?

I ran track and cross country (practices)
the previous school year and some running
over the summer. I refused to compete
though, so I never really pushed myself,
mostly just leisurely running. I have hit
much further than 2 miles though. I think
I may just be stupid for going out in the
cold.

Oh, so 2 miles isn't anything new for you.
Well, maybe you are just running with
inadequate clothing for the cold.
