rectal bleeding - hemmerhoid or Colonoscopy Required? Posted: 12-14-07 16:48pm
Hi,
I saw a bright red blood on the water
almost 2 months ago and it wan't mixed
with the stool. It was itchy for couple of
hours...I freaked out and saw a doctor the
next day. I have hemaroid for about 15
years and the doctor told me not to worry
and let him know if the situation got
worse. After one month later I saw blood
again - very small amount- and told my
doctor to refer me to a specialist, which
he did. Today I met with him and we talk
about the symptoms. He recommended
colonoscopy (he said he has to recomend
colonoscopy for any rectal bleeding) but
he also told me that If I were you I
wouldn't worry about it. He said watch it
and if bleeding continues then book an
appointment for colonoscopy. I am 30 yrs
old male and I have no any other
symptoms...I was wondering if "watch it"
is a good idea or not? or should I get
colonoscopy immediately? It has been
almost 1 month now and I have no bleeding
or any other complaints.
Any advice would be much appreciated...
Thanks

I'd suggest that you follow your instincts
and if you feel that something is "off",
get it checked out. Diagnostics are good
preventative medicine!

I would get the colonoscopy just to make
sure it is nothing serious. It definitley
does sound like a hemmoroid. I have them
and I bleed sometimes and also itch like
crazy. Use Preporation H it relieves the
itching and reduces the swelling. You will
be feeling better in no time.

My parents both had colonoscopies....and
even though it turned out OK, they felt
better knowing that there was nothing
wrong. Nemrutt, have you seen you doctor
again? did you follow up on the
suggestion?
