Damien Jacob is our boy name... I don't know about girls. If we ever have another kid it's going to be a pain in the ass if it's a girl, we fought for months before deciding on Jayden Elizabeth!

I love Sienna Rose or Elianna Grace, though.

I love the name Violet. How weird is that? But our last name starts with a D. I refuse to have my daughters initials be V.D. Sad

Haha, oh man. That would be horrible.

I'm TB. Tuberculosis! But no one besides myself has ever said anything about it.

I like Jemma. Silly, Bridget, you aren't supposed to TELL ANYONE what your name is going to be. Everyone seems to have an opinion on what names are good and what names are bad.

Jemma is gorgeous!

That's EXACTLY the reason me and Baron have chosen NOT to reveal the name!!

I got SOOOOO much negativity about Oni's name(Kayoni)...that I decided I didn't wanna hear it with this lil one!! Wink

I have no idea! If you don't like it, just don't say anything. It's not that hard.

you would be VERY surprised at how rude people can be!!!

My own family(&Baron's fam) looked at me like I was crazy and said "you BETTER NOT name that baby Kayoni!! Do you know how much ridicule she'll go through in school!?!?!?!?! I think you'd better find a NEW name...ASAP!"

My response ALWAYS was "my daughter is going to be soooo absolutely STUNNING that nobody is going to be worried about what her name is! Her looks will dominate!!!"

Just the other day, at Chuck E. Cheese, my cousins friend asked me "so have you told anyone the name yet?" And I said "nope, don't plan on it either."
She said "well is it a WHITE name?!?!" And I said "nope. actually, it's African."
She then says "oh JESUS!! What is it?! Shaquetra?! Shaquantra?! You're messing up these kids lives..."
And I BLEW on her! "people like YOU are the reason I chose NOT to tell the name of this baby!! You have NO respect for people OR their decisions. I'm SOOOOO sorry I didn't choose a bland name like 'TAYLOR' or 'BROOKE'(her 2 kids names)."

So ya see...people, esp those that are close to you, have NO problem expressing their HATRED of unique names...

I can't wait to tell yall her name!! It is soooooo gorgeous!!!

Well, you can tell your cousins friend that Shaquantra and Shaniqua ARE AMERICAN names. They are considered American names because they are generally 2 names put together. As a lot of the 'unique' names given to kids these days are. Sometimes women just change the spelling - but that doesn't really make them any more 'unique' - it just makes them harder to spell Smile

My best friend was with me when this happened and she, at that VERY moment, understood WHY I haven't told ANYONE her name yet.

The girl who scolded me on my choice of names is 100% ignorant. She has the education of a 10 year old...and honestly, nobody likes her...It REALLY made me mad that she asked if the name was a "WHITE" name!!!! Who asks THAT?!?!?!

It's frustrating when your own family demeans you about your choice of names for YOUR child.
My family even told me that they would NOT call Kayoni, Kayoni. That they would make up their OWN name to call her. How effing DISRESPECTFUL!?!?!?!

It's hard to make such closed minded people open up to the beauty of unique names. Because I choose Nigerian and African names for my children, doesn't mean they will have horrible lives.

I live in EFFING *NEW ORLEANS* for Christ sake!!!! How "normal" are many of the names down here anyways?!?!?!

isn't her middle name brianne? i used to know a little girl named brianna and everyone called her breezy. anyway, i think it's kind of cute and sweet that she has a special name for her. my dad and all of my mom's side of the family call me briggs.
