tremors in hand, balance problem, twitchy, is it parkinsons? Posted: 12-20-07 16:30pm
Hi there, I didnt really know where to ask
(besides a doctor of course) but i am away
on holiday atm so seeing a doctor is
difficult.
For the last month or so I have had random
tremors in my left hand. for the last 5
years i have had a balance problem almost
feel like im on an elevator, i had neuro
tests done at the time and they cleared me
of having a tumor, then they told me i had
depression and gave me pills. well i still
have problems with my balance sometimes if
i make a sudden movment it is really bad.
Also if im sitting still i can feel my
body rocking back and forth ever so
slightly. Now in these latest months i
have felt twitchy.
After all that venting on my symptoms lol
does anyone think i should be tested for
parkinsons? im 24 male from australia
There are no specific tests for Parkinson
disease. This disorder can be diagnosed
only according to the symptoms and
neurological examination. Three major
symptoms of PD are tremor, muscle stiffens
(rigor) and slow movements. They develop
slowly not suddenly. You are missing 2 of
them. Your age (24) is also not typical
for Parkinson disease.
Balance problems (vertigo) can be also
found in PD but latter. Vertigo that is
provoked by sudden movements or certain
body position can be due to so called
benign positional vertigo. There are
several other reasons for vertigo that
should be excluded.
Do you feel vertigo when stand up?
Do you feel nausea together with the
vertigo?
Do you have problems with hearing?
Do you take some medicines?
Do you take drugs and alcohol?
