Skipping Placebo Week - a Different Question Posted: 12-20-07 21:30pm
I KNOW its been asked abillion times, and
yes I have read those threads. Next week
is my placebo week, and it is also the
first week of 2 of winter break, and my
birthday is on christmas and I planned to
go to the beach with friends (lolflorida).
Plus there will be no school so there may
be some sneaking around with my man. I
would really like to skip my placebos and
not get my period, but I know this can
cause breakthrough bleeding... sometimes
even worse than the regular period itself,
and for longer, and its unexpected. My
question though... does it take a week or
two for the body to realize it's hormones
aren't on schedule to trigger the
breakthrough bleeding? When people get
breakthrough bleeding from skipping
placebos, is it more likely to happen
further into the next pack? Or early on? I
have been on my birth control, femcon fe,
for about 6 months and only got
breakthrough bleeding about a week in my
first pack.
I'd really like to be blood-free the first
week, I think I'm safe for my birthday
(only like the third day of active instead
of placebos)... preferably all winter
break. Does anyone get my reason? Can you
offer experience or advice?

Well, I'm on Nuvaring, not the Pill, but
I've been experimenting with extending my
"period-free" time. So far, it's a bust! I
have had a heavy period-like episode for
almost 6 days now, heavier than the usual
"ring-free" week. And I'm still on the
hormones! But , this is the first month.
Maybe it'll get better.Good luck whatever
you decide to do.
