Just wondering on how to spot a swollen
lymph node...
I know where all the usual lymph nodes
should be, but my questions are:
1. Are they always pea shaped or like a
round little ball?
2. If the lymph nodes in open areas like
armpits, neck and groin are swollen, do
they always protrude visibly? Or at least
are easy to feel if I were to run my
fingers fairly taut against my skin?
Thanks.

When swollen lymph nodes are examinated
it's important to check the size ant the
consistancy.
Different medical conditions are
associated with different types of swollen
lymph nodes.
Most of the lymph nodes are considered
normal if they aren't bigger than 1 cm,
although, some doctors accept the range
1-2 cm as normal depending on the place
where are the nodes located.
Do you already have swollen lymph nodes or
you just wanna know how to detect them
when examine yourself routinely?

No, I don't think I have any swollen lymph
nodes. However, I have these knots in my
muscles near the areas where there should
be lymph nodes. Like on the back of my
neck muscle there's a sore knot, and on my
shoulder muscle there's a sore knot.
They bump up a bit, but they're not really
pea shaped and they don't move around.
Lymph nodes aren't embedded within muscles
are they?
I've never had any lymph nodes swollen on
my before, other than the one under my
jaws/chin area for when I had a sore
throat. I don't know how to tell how they
look/feel and where exactly they are. I
just know generally, and that is just a
bit confusing for me.
