You'll Have Less Time Later

Trust me I thought I didn't have time in college to work out....It is twice as hard later in life...Make it a lifestyle now. I worked part time and took full loads when I was in school I know you feel like you are incredibly busy...And you no doubt are but trust me...It gets harder. Try to get to the gym 3 days a week.

My daughter at 15 is travelling 2+ hours each way ever day to university (college) - participates in plays & on the theatrical society committee etc & goes to some parties while keeping her grades up but two things she never gives way on are

a) a 30 - 45 minute walk at around sunrise (no matter how late she got to bed!!)

b) some yoga &/or pilates stretches/exercises/meditation each day.

If she can fit this in I think anyone can & it helps keep her healthy, her body toned & fit & strong thereby helping her to carry the enormous loads of books up & down the hill (uni is on the side of a hill!!) not to mention walking up & down stairs at train stations!!

Ok, some stairs these stairs are 120 in one go up a hill plus another couple of hundred a day & she's running between lectures - plus carrying a heavy load - I suggest you try it & then see if it's no big deal!!

I try to give information based on my experience or that of others (reality) as opposed to merely what I have read(may not be reality).

Also don't assume - my daughter is in fact far from healthy & far from strong either emotionally or physically, but she doesn't give up.

if you know what you had said in your earlier post then you would understand why I said your daughter was healthy and strong, because you stated that. Listen. Going up stairs with a backback is something. However apparently it isnt enough. She is going up stairs and then sits in a classroom for hours. She is not raising her heart beat up enough. This isnt a workout. To see gains you need to work and run or do stairs as hard as you can possibly can. Obviously if she is gaining weight then what she is doing isnt enough. So stop with all these stairs and walking.

You choose not to listen - you do not comprehend & you do not know what you are talking about - plus this thread was not started for my daughter & if it had been I would not want help from someone like you & with her iq she would be far less polite in her description of your mental capabilities & your advice.

I won a long time ago - probably before you were even born - I am not debating you - you aren't worth it - you can't even stick to the topic & to replying to the person who asked for help - that would be too hard for you.

Since it's several posts since I (caps i) mentioned my daughter I can only assume that you rae jealous of her iq, achievements & ability - but that is your problem no-one else's - so get over it, get some sort of a life & either help the psople who come here seeking help/advice or go somewhere where your personal inadequacies & lack of self esteem won't be issues.

Do you have any points that would add to what flowerpower said to start this thread?

Such as starting the day with a walk.

Joining a gym (especially if there's one at your university or college) & use it.

Walk or ride a pushbike to get around rather than driving or taking a bus etc whenever possible.

Doing yoga/pilates or similar which are great as they can be done indoors in yhour own time - even if the weather is lousy.

Too Far

Damn! I cant believe this! You two are worse than my brothers! And thats saying something!
You both, obviously, have strong opinions, and thats perfectly fine!
However, speaking as a member of this board, I for one, think it's gone a bit far.
I mean, you each have valid points, but this forum is a site which is supposed to provide useful and helpful information, its not a place for heated arguments.
I respect both of ur beliefs, views and ideas.
Eric16, ur opinions and advise in this forum is very much appreciated, although I don’t understand why u have to demean ppl by name-calling Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation “your pathetic” is an insult, not only to purple333, but also to me. Purple is a well-respected and valued person on this board, and in (caps) no way pathetic. I take great offence.

I hope u resolve ur issues Rolling Eyes
peace

Babygurl,

thanks for bringing things back to reality - although as you can see I had started to do that in my last post which was "on topic" re ways to exercise cheaply/freely & in your own time - I merely asked eric if he had suggestions relevant to flowerpots post on this thread - not if he had advice as - she had not asked for any.

Debate Vs Attack
Posted: 08-04-04 02:44am

Debate is one thing attacks another.

As to my references to my daughter - I aslso refer to my husband, son, self & friends as appropriate on any particular thread - if my knowledge of what a particular person has been through, does or whatever is relevant than I talk about it, in this case it was my daughter - I fail to comprehend (hence my suggestion that you're jealous of her) what your problem is with me using her experiences as an example, anymoer than using her or my experiences re health issues should be anything other than helpful in other threads.

I post with information I consider relevant & helpful & whcih I have gathered from personal (mine or others)experience or reading etc in order to help here or as in this thread to give insight as to how exercise can be fitted in.

Attack Me Fine But!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted: 08-04-04 02:52am

If anyone cares to read eric's first post it was an attack - no information just an attack & I was angry beacuse that attack was directed as much against my daughter as me. If I choose to use my daughter as an example in giving advice/suggestions that is my choice - he has no right to attack & he had no basis for an attack especially as he gave no information or help just attacked??!!

In fact not one of his posts has offered information but every single one has been an attack against me & on other threads he has also attacked others - for similarly unexplainable reasons.

I see I hit a nerve, attack, attack, attack.....

I can understand trying to relate something to somene you know who has the same problem. However all you stated was the problem and had no advice to give. It is a better idea to state that your daughter has the same problem so and so and then give usefull advice, not just explain what she does.

Is it really an attack? I think not. If you think it is then you need some thicker skin. I give people advice that works, I dont talk about how someone I know has this problem. Dont cry and say I attacked you. Its called a debate, however it is already over. If I so called "attacked" you then you have done the same thing back to me and im not crying about it.

You people act like there has never been a disagreement on this board or never a conflict of thoughts. Did you all just agree with whatever opinion was posted first? Well I state my ideas that I know work wether you like it or not. You dont agree? Then state why you think my thought is false and post yours. Then I might have some respect for you.

Eric Either Give Information Or Go!!

Eric if you have anything to add to the points made by flowerpower in this thread - which I have done at least twice - then fine otherwise go elsewhere - actually just go elsewhere.

if you could "read and comprehend", then you would know I have given some valid points to the topic. Go back and read. Read my posts just before this one and do the same, and give it up.

9 Posts & This Is All Eric Has!!

"to see gains you need to work and run or do stairs as hard as you can possibly can." Rolling Eyes

"make sure you have an adequate amount of sleep. We are all ging to be busy and run out of energy, you have to eat right so your body has enough energy" Rolling Eyes

in 9 posts the above is the sum total of eric's "valid pints to the topic" - hope it wasn't too big a strain on him.

I do not want to be the only voice here (but what is needed are voices with actual opinions not merely insults or incomplete information) - I have learnt much from others on ehealth whose experiences & knowledge have been different to mine - that is the beauty of this type of forum - it is only when someone is derogatory to all & also generally fails to offer real advice that this forum suffers.

The only one kidding here is you.............................
