i asked my mom so many times before i ever even had sex if she would let me go on birth control and she ignored me. so i tried to step up before i even got pregnant and of course it didnt work so i really think if your child is asking to put her n birth control that is what needs to be done.

^^ I'm putting Jay on BC as soon as she starts her period.

As for the question... I don't really know. My mom and I don't/didn't have an open relationship, but it wouldn't have changed anything. I got myself on the pill and we used a condom, and I still got pregnant. That would have happened had my mom been the one to get me on birth control, too.

Because I couldn't go through another abortion when I could support this child? I don't know how my parents could have avoided that, either. My mom is against abortion, period, so unless she changed her morals there's no way she could have avoided it.

I got pregnant at 16. I was the one of the youngest of 9 kids. My mom NEVER talked to me about sex. It was almost a taboo word in our house. My older sister explained stuff to me. So, when I was curious about sex, I couldn't ask my mother anything. I asked my sister, but she wasn't able to take me to get on birth control pills. If my mom had been approachable, I wouldn't have had my first kid so young. I openly discussed sex with my oldest daughter and explained things to her, on her level, at different age appropriate talks. I begged her to come to me before she had sex so I could prevent her following in my footsteps. It didn't work. She got pregnant at the same age I did. So, all of my openness and discussions didn't work. I don't know what I could have done differently to avoid the situation.
