Tell the kid to move over!

Princess, I was over an hour away from the hospital when I went in to labor. More often than not you'll have time to travel the 30-40 minutes. Labor starts off slowly (usually).

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, don't worry. Smile

I think Altari's idea about you calling your doc before getting your mother involved is excellent advice. You can get his phone number from calling 411.

P.S. It's not a good idea to NOT know that number, anyway. You should keep the phone number with you, like in your purse or wallet, for emergencies.

Yeah I would! I didn't have time with either babies. Once a go I go. Those babies come too fast for me! That's why I was enduced with my 2nd because we only live 10 min away and my dr was worried we wouldn't make it. And yet I still didn't get meds!

I had BH from about 30 weeks on.

well, I was talking to him on AIM and some how the baby came up and me having him. I told him how I hate pain but that's what meds are for and he's just like nope you gotta have him natural no meds aloud. I was like haha.. haha you're funny. If you think i'm gonna do this without them you're INSANE. He just laughed. I HOPE he was just kidding. Knowing him though, I think he was...

He was just trying to throw one more obstacle at you, to convince you to not have the baby.

oh yeah. me too. I don't see how my mom could handle 2 at 19. geez. I told my bf that if we happen to last that long i'd be very happy to have one in about 5-ish years. He's like i'll be to old then! lol (he's quite a bit older than me) I told him as long as you use it you can have kids lol. But he wants kids older but still young enough that he can play around with them and stuff. Good he can take mine and practice with him :p

How old is he? I think it's sick that he's talking about you having his child before he talks about marrying you.

LoL, I had three by the time I was 20. First one we used condoms, second one I was on the patch. O_o Some of us are just too fertile. I also am jonesing for another baby...hubby and I are finally in a position where it would be doable, lol. I don't think we're going there, though. We had a scare this month, and it made us both realize how that while another baby sounds good, it would really SUCK right now. =)

Maybe baby-jonesing is one of the reasons it's so hard to go back and finish your education when you are a teen parent.

Could be, although I'd put that more in the category of "not being able to".

We have some good family friends who routinely take in 1 or 2 pregnant girls. Our area has the double edged sword of teen pregnancy being fairly common, but a ridiculously skewed public opinion tainting reactions to it. The girls stay with her until they finish high school, and some until they finish college. She's been doing this for 30 years, and has said that some of the mother/child combos live with them until the child is 5 or 6. Very inspirational, dedicated woman - luckily, she's a social worker, so her circle of influence is much greater as well. Our next house is going to have an extra room or two for this purpose.

What kind of things do the public say about teen pregnancy, and why do you think there is so much of it in spite of the public reaction?

We're a relatively low-income, low-education, and very rural area. Starting families young is common, considering most people don't have educations past high school (and many past sophomore year).

As I said in another post, it's due to an outdated idea of sexuality. Most parents don't particularly want "something better" for their kids - there's more of an attitude of "I did fine with just my GED you will too". It's a far right-wing idea that sex outside of marriage is dirty, and teenage mothers must be sluts.
