Septated uterus
Posted: 12-29-07 03:56am

So I've been looking for somewhere to talk about this problem I have, but I haven't really found much until I got here, but I'm still having a hard time finding anyone with my exact issue. I figured I might as well throw it out there and see if anyone responds. I only wish I'd found this when I first found out, I had a rough and lonely time.
I have a septated uterus, the septum extended to my cervix. We found out a year ago when I had a miscarriage. I was lucky they found it when they did, but it was an incredibly lonely and depressing time. My husband was great and loving and took good care of me, but I didn't have anyone to talk to about my problem that knew how I felt.
Since we found out, I was on an emotional roller coaster, and the hormones they put me on made that even worse. I had my surgery (laporoscopy hysteroscopy w/lysis of the intrauterine septum) the end of June 2007. After a few months of healing and more hormone treatments, we had more tests done and found out I have to have another surgery. I'm doing better with the news, but I was so crushed. My husband and I really want children, all my life I've wanted to be a mom, but here I am, surrounded by people having babies and I feel even more like I'm defective and out of the loop.
Anybody else feel this way or going through the same situation? If you had a surgery like mine, did it completely debilitate you, or am I just extra 'lucky' in that dept?

Unfortunately, I am not sure how much help I am because I have never yet had to experience anything as painful as what you have gone through. My prayers are with you that your surgery is successful and that someday in the future you and your husband will have a beautiful child....there are other options for that, which I am sure you realize, but I can see where this can be very emotional and depressing.
Fortunately, you have come to a great forum with a ton of wonderful women who will help you keep your head above water!!!!
Anyway, I am Amy and I have just started the ttc journey...pm me anytime if you would like to talk. Smile

Your must be going through a very hard time. I don't have the same problem as you, but I do know how it feels to be lonely and depressed because everyone around you is having a baby except you. My dh and I have been trying for about a year and a half.

We are now going to a fertility clinic. I got my first abnormal test the other day. While I was hoping for a fixable explanation (which this might be), I still took the news pretty hard.

For those of us who don't get pregnant in the first few months, the ttc journey can be lonely and stressful. I pray that your next surgery solves everything. My advice is to find some other hobby that you can use to distract you from how much you want a baby and to come to this forum for support. I hope that we can help you during the healing process.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. It does help to know this is here to help support those of us with problems. I'm sorry to hear about your problems, and I hope that everything works out for you both. Hobbies are definitely helpful, it's just hard to find the energy.
I've seen some of the other posts and how close many of you are, and I hope I can be a help to you and others who need encouragement and support too. I don't have sisters so I don't relate to women the way I wish I could, but I hope to be somewhat helpful and a friend to those who need it.

Thank goodness for the internet! I don't know how we ever lived without it to look up stuff, and have people to relate to from all over the world.

He's 27 and I'll be 25 in 2 months. (Where we live, if you're our age and don't have kids, then you don't fit it. I don't want babies to fit in though, I want them because I want to be a mom.) How about you and your husband?
I've been reading about the ttc's, I hope that by summer we'll be to that stage. It's hard to want kids and not even be able to try. (It's nice to be able to say things like that and know that you'll understand, I haven't had that till now.)
Thanks for messaging with me.

My husband and I just married last month and he is 23 and I am 19. We aren't really TRYING yet, we are just preventing. Right now we aren't in a hurry, if it happens it will be wonderful...but we are willing to wait a couple years too!! This is our first month without birth control. We will see what happens.
Do you live on like Wisteria Lane or something?!? Haha...Desperate Housewives..? Anyway...what do you mean you have to have a baby to fit in in your area? That is so depressing!!!! So, did you and your hubby start out just trying and got pregnant and then the rest of your story? I am so sorry you had to go thru that. And you are free to pm me anytime you want/need to talk...I am on here 24/7

Congrats on getting married! We've been married just over 2 yrs.
I was on bc for about a year and then we decided to just see what happened after that. We weren't trying and we weren't preventing anything from happening either. I got pregnant about a month after going off bc and miscarried at 6 1/2 weeks. I never knew how emotionally and physically painful that process was till I went through it.
Where we live is like things happen in stages. You go to college, get married then have babies. Everyone our age has kids (except for a couple of exceptions) so that's why we don't fit in. Every time we try to hang out with friends, it's like they'll either cancel because they can't find a babysitter, we'll have to end our night early because of the babysitter, or stay in altogether so they don't have to get a babysitter. I don't care about having kids around (I love kids, obviously), but it seems like they use them as an excuse to not do anything.

Thanks!! Goodness..you two are staying pretty strong it seems, and that is awesome!

Yeah, I would just stop asking them to hang out probably!! Lol..Im not very nice though. I know that my best friend is 23 and has a 2 almost 3 yr old and when she comes over normally brings him with and it is always still a blast! I have 10 brothers and sisters so I am used to the kids being around, but I would love to have one of my own! So I understand in that sense...
