Am I Still Covered ? Can I have sex ?
Posted: 04-21-04 10:44am

I was wondering if when u take the sugar pills are u suppose to get ur period when u take the first pill? Or will it start on like the 3rd sugar pill or somethhin like that. Also if my period doesnt start after I take the first sugar pill. Will I still be ok to have sex since im not taking any hormones at the time? And also will be continue to be covered once I take the hormone pills again or do I have to still wait a week or what not?

Thanks

Hey there kails

how long have you been on the pill (i'm guessing this is your first cycle)? Your period will probably start in the next day or two (my first time on the pill it didn't start til the 3rd or 4th day of sugar pills). And so long as you finish the sugar pills and go on to the next pack right when you're supposed to, you're "covered" by the pills. The sugar pills are set up be non-hormonal in order to induce menstruation this doesn't mean that during this time you're necessarily "uncovered." mind you, like I said before it's important that you continue with the next pack.

Yes, the above post is correct. The "sugar pills" are blanks and you do not even have to take them. You get your period because you are not taking the hormones that are in the other pills. You still need to use a back up method to be 100% covered, but you are still "covered" on the "sugar pills"
