The uv rays will not hurt the fetus. The
concern of tanning while pregnant is the
body temperature rise. If you tan while
pregnant there are many ways to keep the
temperature down. Some tanning salons even
offer a tanning cooling system. During
your first trimester is the only time the
temperature could harm the fetus when the
fetus is most vulnerable.

Why would you even chance it?!
You shouldn't use tanning beds whether you
are pregnant or not!
My good friend's father just passed away
from Melanoma. Why would you want to die
in such a horrible way, I just don't
understand.
Use tan in a can. It's safe for both YOU
and YOUR BABY.

I'm white as a ghost. I don't care about
tanning. In a bed, or outside. I have
better things to worry about lol. And i
would NOT tan while pregnant.

After you have a baby being white, brown,
purple, or blue is the least of your
worries.

umm what? your completely wrong
UV rays ARE HARMFUL to the fetus
Some studies also link UV rays and folic
acid deficiency. Folic acid prevents
neural tube defects, such as spina bifida,
and is especially important in the first
trimester. During pregnancy, your skin is
more susceptible to burning and chloasma,
the dark splotches that appear on the face
during pregnancy. Speak to your health
care provider about the safety of tanning
beds during pregnancy.

UV rays are bad for everyone, but
sunbathing is especially bad if you’re
pregnant. Your skin is probably more
sensitive to sunlight than it was before,
so you may burn easily. Sitting under the
hot sun (or in a tanning bed) for a long
time may make you overheated or lose body
fluids (dehydrated). Both of these are bad
for your growing baby. Also, UV rays may
break down folic acid, an important
vitamin that helps your baby’s brain and
spinal cord develop.

I did a study on the electromagnetic
spectrum focusing on UV rays in university
for one of my labs, and in my discussion
section I related the material to tanning
beds.
Trust me, after that I would never tan in
a salon (or outside for that matter)
again!
UV rays in normal tanning conditions
(outside) cause many effects. Some good.
Most bad. For example.....Exposure to UV
rays for ten minutes causes the vitamin D
production needed for an entire day -
that's good. UV radiation causes DNA
mutations and also causes local or
systematic immunosuppresion - that's bad!
The average tanning bed has 15x the level
of UV radiation than what you would get if
you were outside.
Pregnant women are already
immunosuppressed to begin with and getting
sick right now is easier than ever
already. That in itself is a pretty solid
reason to stay away. Not to mention the
sensitive skin, or the folic acid
deficiency caused by UV that could cause
birth defects, like the_girlfriend said.
All in all, it's better to go with tan in
bottle, lol!
