Abortion Ever the Right Path?

Just wondering where people stand on this
topic.
What happens, if you find out the child
you are carrying will have numerous
deformities? Would you love the child
regarldess? Would you have the abortion,
or would you go for adoption?
Just wondering what everyones outlook
would be if being placed in a terrible
situation like this!

Yes i'd abort, i'm not going to bring up a
child that will take resources away from
my existing child and i disagree with
adoption for myself; there are already
enough children waiting to be adopted, i'm
not going to add to that problem.

Any time a woman wants an abortion, it is
the right path. I will abort any time I
conceive, I will never give birth.
However, if I were to want a child and I
was carrying a fetus with deformities, it
would depend on the deformity. A minor one
like cleft palate or down syndrome, I'd
probably carry to term. Severe deformities
such as trisomy 18 etc. I would abort.

Yeah, this time last year i said i'd abort
anytime in the next 2 years, taking me up
until early 2009. Now i'm very much more
inclined to say that i'd abort and op for
adopting my future children instead.

If you know your baby would be born with
disabilities, and you know that you would
not want to or be able to look after a
disabled child (and don't forget that can
mean looking after a disabled person for
the rest of your life), how could you not
have an abortion? There is such a tiny
likelihood of anyone wanting to adopt it,
that aborting is the only responsible
course of action.

I have always said that if I ever decided
to have children, I'd adopt an older child
because 1. I do not ever want to go
through gestation and childbirth and 2. I
don't want to go through the
diaper/toddler stages.

I honestly don't know what I would do.
I'm just glad I've never been faced with
that situation.

sometimes even the parents of a much loved
fetus weigh the options and decid that
abortion is the better option to giving
live birth to a infant that is destined to
suffer and die shortly after that birth.
some deformities are so severe they are
inconsistant with life for more than a few
days months or years.
Some parents know that they do no want to
raise a severly disabled child and they
know that the chances of such a child
being adopted are slim to nil so they
choose to abort. Not becuase they do not
love the fetus but becuase they do and
they do not want it to become a born child
that lives only to suffer.
Five years ago I had a pregnancy scare. I
know the risks for a woman in my age
group. My husband and I talked about what
we would do if those fears were realized.
We decided that even with the risks we
would proceed with the pregnancy but have
amnio in case there were real problems
with the fetus itself ( if there were we
would abort).
While we could decide to live with the
decision as far as taking risks to myself
or our life, we both knew we could not and
would not deliberatly bring a child into
the world to suffer. We also weighed the
consideration that at our age if we had a
child that was disabled (such as downs
syndrome) it would probably fall on my
grown children to care for it once we were
gone. I do not think I have the right to
put that kind of burden on my existing
offspring.
Fortunately for us it turned out to be
menapause with no other side effects other
than a cessation of menstration. I am so
glad I did not have to face either a
pregnancy in my fifties (both of my
grandmothers had children at fifty) or had
to choose to abort .

I would abort regardless of the health of
the fetus. If it were to be born a sped,
that would just make me that much more
inclined to abort the thing. I would not
adopt out the waif because I know for a
fact that 7 out of 10 kids that get given
away never get adopted, and then they get
kicked out on their butts when they hit 18
with no one to turn to and no family. I
would not keep it because kids drive me
insane and I know I'd probably go nuts
enough to seriously harm one if left in my
care for longer than a day.
Also, pregnancy frightens and disgusts me
and I do not want my genitals to be torn
stem to stern for a creature that will
cost me countless thousands to raise and
will then tell me it hates me for about a
third of its life. Nope - not my cup of
tea. I leave pregnancy to the people who
are clueless enough to think it really is
a blessing.

There are absolutely 100% cases where
abortion is definitely the best path. As
has already been mentioned, cases like
fetal deformities, endangering pregnancy
complications, risk of maternal death, and
rape are always right abortions in my
mind.
I'd abort immediately if the deformities
were unfixable and the child would have
severely restricted quality of life. I am
not going to raise a vegetable; I want to
raise a child. I'll make a garden if I
want vegetables. I can always get pregnant
again. Deformities like that are so rare
that you're unlikely to ever see one
again. I would indeed love it; that's why
I'd abort it.

Msrosie kudos to you, not may people adopt
older kid or even think about as the
majority want babies (out of being
selfish.)
Yes I agree depending on the deformity but
the child has to be able to enjoy some
value in life.....
