im a healthy 18 year old, i exercise and
eat well. im about 5"5 and pretty
alethtic.
my problem is that i carnt seem to get to
sleep untill really early hours in the
morning (somthimes 6-8am) and i sleep
until about 5-6pm. when im at college i
tend to fall asleep at about 1-2am and
waking up at 9am which makes me
increadably tired.
i have also noticed that at weekends and
on holidays my sleep pattern tend to
slowly slip into the 5am-5pm when i dont
have to get up for anything. it seems to
me that i stay awake longer than i go to
sleep for, so my pattern gradually gets
out of sync with everyone elses.
i found the only way i can get back into
'normal' sleeping habits (11pm-10am) is to
stay awake for 24 hours so that i fall
asleep at a 'normal' time. which usually
isnt possible.
is there a name for this kind of pattern
or something? it would be a great help.
Thank you muchly

The condition might be called: circadian
misalignment. Not sure if there is a name
but it seems clear that you are a "night
owl". If you want to get back into a
normal routine, there are a few things you
can try.
1. Cut out caffeine.
2. Don't work, play video games, look at
a television or computer screen for 3
hours before you go to bed. These things
stimulate the nevous system, when you
actually want to be relaxing it.
3. Exercise daily
4. Investigate the levels of Melatonin,
5-methoxy-N-acetyltryptamine in your
system. This hormone may regulate
regulates the circadian cycle by
chemically causing drowsiness.
