Pregnancy Community Chat Forum - Bad Day Turned Even Worse

So, the frozen pipes were just the beginning of my nightmare of a day. Adriana and I got a late start to my parents house because the fool land owners can't locate their own employees. So I finally say screw it and left, so once we got to my parents I got ready and left for my appointment (interview, whatever.) and then once I get onto the interstate (I have a 45 minute drive mind you) I notice a burning smell, so I call my dad to see what I should do. I didn't have time to waste at this point. So he was going to come get me, and my mom was gonna go for my brother. What? Yeah, my brother was in an accident and was in the hospital. So I told him to go with my mom and I'd call DH if I had car trouble. I ended up making it just fine, I got there a bit early actually. I was a complete mess going in there, but I was out of there in like 15 minutes, so I head back to my parents house to get Nana who was being babysat by my other brother that was able to leave work early. From there I had to haul ass to pick up my nephew from school since my parents weren't able to. In the process of all this we still don't know what's going on with our frozen pipes and the nurse gave my parents very little info on my brother so we didn't know anything until my parents actually got there (It's like an hour and a half, or two hours away from us) So my mind was going full tilt all day today. This is not the way I wanted to start out my new year. But I'm looking at it the positive way and will think all the bad things are going to happen right away and the rest of the year will be nothing but good.

So, my brother drives a semi for work and he ran into the back of a snow plow. He was going 55 MPH (which was the speed limit) and the snow plow was either stopped or going slow. The other guy didn't get hurt, but it took paramedics and police and all those guys an hour to cut my brother out of his cab. He went by ambulance to the hospital and he had to have all sorts of tests done. He's got a lot of cuts all over from the windshield shattering and his knee and stomach are pretty messed up. He's got lots of bruising as well, but he's gonna be alright. They're keeping him at least for the night to monitor for internal bleeding, so there is a surgeon on stand by for him and he's got a catheter in to watch for blood in the urine. The cops said he was extremely lucky that things weren't worse. He did not have his seatbelt on, so he got a citation for that and for inattentive driving. My brother looked away for a second and when he looked back that's when he saw the snow plow. He hit so hard that the snow plow was lifted off all 4 tires. He's gonna be really sore tomorrow. He's got morphine in his IV tho, so maybe it won't be super bad. But I just found out he may be able to come home tomorrow if he can get up and move around. I'm just glad he's going to be alright. It's been a hectic day and my body and mind are drained. So if this post doesn't make sense, I apologize.

Oh, and the frozen pipes....it was just some stupid button on the heat tape that we have on the pipes. They just had to push some reset button. Can't wait for the bill on that one. Evil or
