Spotting and mood swings on Yaz
Posted: 01-03-08 22:19pm

Has anyone heard if other women like the birth control Yaz-i take it everyday at the same time, but now after a year i seem to have had 2 different menses where i spot a little after each period (usually after my husband and I have sex). Also they say that Yaz is supposed to reduce your amount of bloating and mood swings, and frankly I think their worse.

Yaz-mood swings
Posted: 01-19-08 01:36am

My 18 year old daughter started taking Yaz. She generally suffers from severe mood swings during her period and had read that Yaz might help. Since she started taking it (about 4 months ago) I feel her mood swings are worse than ever, although she never sees it. She cries her eyes out one minute and then I hear her laughing on the phone with a friend. She claims she is depressed all the time, hates her life and everything around her. I've tried to get her to switch to something else but can't get her to. If anyone else is having similar problems, please speak out - maybe that will convince her.

Any form of hormonal birth control can increase moodiness. You need to get a doctor to tell her this to her face and tell her to stop and/or forcibly remove the prescription due to these side effects.

SOME women have WORSE moodiness or depression on BC pills.

I DID TOO.

ANTI DEPRESSANTS are often a better alternative than birth control for many women.

I wouldn't suggest anit depressents to anyone that doesn't need them. I had a horrible experience on them this last time, and i'm better now that i'm off of them.

I'm on day 18 of yaz. It was prescribed to me to help my mood swings, and now they are a million times worse. I don't know what to do. Anti depressants didn't help me either.

Maybe you need therapy, not medicine. It sounds like whatever it is that isn't working right in your head is manifesting as mood swings but is not being caused by what they assumed was causing it.

Mine mood swings are actually better and I'm surprised haha. I've been on Yaz for almost 10 months.

i just started yaz about 2 weeks ago. I must say this is all comforting to hear, not the emotional mood swings and spotting but that these side effects are kind of normal. I have been spotting for about a week and half after my period and last night was, well, something else. Something I wouldn't call spotting. Anyway, I am wondering if I should just stick with it and see what happens, or if anyone has a better prescription birth control because this one is a huge let down.

i've been on yaz for just over a year now...i will say that for the first 2-3 months I HATED it...I got random dizzy spells, headaches, spotting during the first month, but after the 2-3 months my symptoms subsided(as the pamphlet said) and now I love it, I dont think its really done anything for mood swings though honestly..i still get crabby and get the bloated feeling before...BUT..i'm thrilled that for the first time in my life my periods are REGULAR! and definitely not as heavy or long...so yaz has been good to me

I have not been on Yaz. I have had Yasmin and now Aviane and have been moody on both.
