not feeling hypoglycemia ? Posted: 01-04-08 13:59pm
Hello folks,
I have a brother (43) that has always had
a problem controlling his
sugar (Type 1 Diabetes) but it has gotten
much worse over the last year.
He loses it so fast and swears that he can
not feel it coming. When he
comes to visit me, I can tell when it's
starting and can usually get
some juice into him before it goes too
far. He does seem to be pretty
incoherent by time we notice it. My
question to you folks is "Can it come
on so fast that you don't have time to
react or tell it's coming?" I have
never experienced this problem but I have
talked to many people with
Diabetes and all of them have said they
can feel it coming on. Thanks
in advance for your input.

When I was first diagnosed with
hypoglycemia I could always tell when my
blood sugar was dropping. I could usually
guess my blood sugar within 10 points.
Now I usually cant' even tell when I'm in
a hypoglycemic attack. For instance my
blood sugar has been dow into the low 40's
and I haven't realized it until I've
tested my sugar.

I usually couldn't tell until the symptoms
came on, by then it was too late. The
sugar seems to drop before the symptoms
arrive in me, for obvious reasons. But I
suppose there was a bit of a strange
feeling I used to get.
