Pregnancy After a Historectomy Posted: 01-06-08 20:39pm
I had a historectomy in 2000. I am
divorced after 25 years and have a new man
in my life who has no children. We want to
have a baby. I will do anything it takes
to be able to give him a child. Does
anybody know if there is a possibility of
pregnancy for those of us who have had
historectomy? We will do artificial
insemination, anything to get me pregnant
with his child. Please help

You cannot carry a child if you've had a
hysterectomy.
You can, however, find a surrogate to
carry the child for you. Good luck!

NOW THAT I KNOW I CANNOT CARRY A CHILD
AFTER HISTORECTOMY. IS THERE A POSSIBILITY
THAT THEY COULD TAKE MY EGG AND HIS SPERM
AND IMPLANT A SERROGATE TO CARRY OUR
CHILD? OR DO THEY JUST USE HIS SPERM? I AM
VERY IGNORANT WHEN IT COMES TO THIS STUFF.
I WANT TO GET SOME FACTS BEFORE I LOOK FOR
A DR TO HELP ME

Dear DEZYRED1NY:
It depends on what kind of
hyserectomy that you had,did you have a
partial (where they only remove the
uterus) or did you have a full
hysterectomy (they remove
uterus,overies,tubes,cervix) if you only
had a partial then yes they can harvest
some of your eggs and fertilize them with
your husbands sperm and implant them into
a surrogate. If you had a full hysterctomy
then you would need to depend on the
surrogate to provide the eggs and doing a
procedure called artificial insemination
(where they inject the semen into the
surrogate mother's vaginal cavity). I'm
not an expert but I hope this helps.Good
Luck to you.
