i have officially decided that im gonna go on the nuvaring. i talked to my dr and that was her suggestion.
my cycle doesnt start till the 29th, but ill keep you guys posted on what happens. i'd still like to hear some personal experiences and stuff about nuvaring. maybe some advice on how to put it in... ive read of people that either have problems putting it in or having it stay in.

You can start *any* BC method before your period starts.

The ONLY few advantages of starting on your period are IMMEDIATE pregnancy protection, and less incidence of breakthrough bleeding.

This is if you need to start it sooner..

Of course it's going to change the schedule of your periods. That's the whole point. Your cycle will become the pill cycle. If you just had your period a week ago, right now is a great time to start.

is it better to start the day your cycle starts or after it's ended?

Supposedly it's best to start the SUNDAY after your period starts, and this normally ensures instant protection and an easy day to remember.

The Nuva ring becomes your new cycle, it totally takes over.

Your OLD cycle?? BYE BYE Smile

You may have some spotting or bleeding during this first month is usage, while the hormone levels are stabilizing inside of you. That is 100% normal, and you should always keep the nuva ring inside of you as prescribed.

You should also always take the nuva ring for your 'period week' even if you have spotting or bleeding between periods.

Yep, that sounds like a great plan. You can start on Sunday even if your period doesn't come. It's okay. Nuvaring will take control over your ovaries and stop ovulation, thus preventing your next cycle.

i heard something about the fact that the durring week that you are off the birth control you dont really have a menstrual cycle... but the bleeding is from withdrawl from the horomones or something like that??

Lady Allie-

Back when BC pills were first invented they did not have a period week. This is because you do not NEED a period on BC pills, your uterine lining does NOT build up like it does 'naturally'. You do NOT ovulate.

PROBLEM is that BC was illegal back then, and to try and make it SEEM more palatable they added a period week.

BASICALLY, the bleeding you get from the "No BC week" is simply a withdrawal from hormones bleed.

You do not need a period, but many women feel weird without one.

It's really easy to put in. It's about the size of a thick hairband. You squeeze it into a long oval and just stick it up there, as far as you can. Your vagina will hold it in.

It does not matter where it sits or how it is positioned, as long as it is in your vagina, because it expands to touch the walls of your vagina, and your vagina absorbs the hormones. It does not need to fit in in any special way, and it's not hard at all.

I only ever had it fall out when I was having sex or using tampons (removing tampons). It can be out for a max of three hours. If it falls out, rinse it off and put it back in as soon as you can.
