I found myself saying "Oh, I should still
be able to do this. To wake up the next
morning in so much pain. Call it denial if
you will. No one likes to loose thier
freedom of activities. That is the worst
part of getting older of having an injury
of any kind much less disc problems. I can
now honestly say, I can't (other then
having my kids) remember being in so much
pain. Pain that even with one of the top
narcaotics would not go away, just
touching the tip of the iceburg. Taking my
breathrough pill for pain when needed.
I this week I can to see reality and
stopped doing things I knew I should not
be doing. And if I had to do something
thinking about it first and deciding what
would be the best way to get it done
without hurting myself more. I am hear to
tell you all, that just with a little less
then a weeks worth of spinal TLC and
knowing my limitations, I can for the
first time say my back actually is feeling
much better. It does still ache, but the
horrific pain is gone. Could also be the
medication has finally caught up with me,
but I truly believe the TLC was the most
important.
Hugs,
Carrie

Good Morning Carrie,
You are RIGHT ON!!! So true, so very very
true. That TLC is so VERY important. To
understand and ACCEPT the limitations of
what we can do because of spinal issues is
SOOOOoooo essential.
YES, TLC is essential. Think you are 18
again, or pretend you are 18 again and you
will pay the price.
When my wife's uncle was in his mid 90's
he said "Getting old isn't for sissies".
So very true. Not a pleasant realization.
Not something we want to accept, that
getting older is not an easy path. Forget
those glorified "retirement ads" that you
see in magazines. That's not reality for
most of us.
Okay, to the flip side of the coin. Just
because our bodies have a few more
"creaks" as we get older does not mean we
can't enjoy life. You stil live life to
its "fullest", BUT with the realization of
your body's and mind's limitations.
Carrie, you have povided invaluable words
of advice and wisdom.
Thank you.

Rich, you give me to much credit and I
mean that. A jerk like me that ca'nt even
remember a phone number should have sense
enough to know that by overdoing was the
wrapping on the package waiting to be
delivered. Grrrrr....maybe I could have
felt better sooner. This makes me very
down on myself. I think from now on, I
should take my own advice instead of
giving it out anymore.
Your thoughts are to kind,
Carrie

Carrie,
You have been through more than
enough, you are so strong, but I know it
is a facade, I could hear it in your voice
yesterday, you always see something
postive, even when you are wracked with
pain. You deserve so much Carrie, you
deserve to be pain free & happy. Some
people want material things, and you want
some peace and health. I admire you
more than you will ever know, I love you
like a sister.

Thank-you Linndie. It was nice to finally
talk to you yesterday. But, unfortunaltly
my friend, you too have over estimated me.
I really don't feel justified or quailfied
giving out advice anymore. Guess I have
lost my own power of positive thinking. I
am totally amazed how much better my back
feels. Many I can get off of some of the
medication now. I did not take my morning
dose of Oxycotin either! Got my figures
crossed.
Going back to bed now. I will take to ya
soon.
Love ya sis,
Carrie

Good Morning Carrie,
And Carrie, I mean every word I said. You have shared a
most important "lesson" to everyone,
whether a spiney or not.
There is not a human on planet Earth who
has not "kicked" their own butt for doing
or not doing something that they knew they
should have or should not have done
whether to themselves or to another
person. Not one!!
But after that "kick" we go on. We
hopefully have learned a very valuable
lesson and then cross over the bridge and
take a new path. You have done that
Carrie. But you have done MUCH more. You
have shared your story with everyone who
reads it. I know you will make others
"wake up" and cross a bridge and take a
new path.
Keep on sharing and giving advice. DON'T
YOU EVER STOP!!!!!
I wish you the VERY best. You have a most
wonderful "sister" named Linndie. Now
celebrate together your new self.
Will you ever "cross over the line" again.
Most likely. But each time you will
better understand where that "line" is.
Carrie, be PROUD of yourself, not down on
yourself.
I am so very happy that you now have much
less pain, and I hope it will continue
that way. You will still have one of
those "bad weather" days now and then as I
sure do. Yesterday morning I could barely
walk when I got out of bed, but after some
stretches and just moving around I felt
better. Then I went outside and enjoyed
the sunshine and getting my hands dirty
working in our gardens.
WONDERFUL that you will be trying to cut
back on your medication. But there again,
go very slow. No "cold turkey".
Have a MOST WONDERFUL Day Carrie!!!

Rich and Linndie. Your words comfort me.
Linndie has been a close friend for quite
some time now and she has always been
there for me and I for her. She has lifted
my spirits more then you will ever know.
Rich, I know I can't go cold turkey. Lets
see how I feel when I see my neuro next
week and I will let him decide if I can go
back down to one Oxy instead of two twice
a day.
You also speak words of wisdom Rich T.
Many words of wisdom.
