Trigger finger surgery
Posted: 01-09-08 13:53pm

I have my son who is 2yrs old and i recently saw that his little thumb was a little purple, i thought he broke his finger so i took him to the hospital for an X-ray and found out that his finger was not broken. The doctor told me he has something called "trigger finger". the doctor said we should do surgery as soon as possible, but to be honest i feel pressured and i dont know what i am to do. WHAT IS THE LONG TERM EFFECT IF WE DONT DO ANYTHING? HOW WILL HE FEEL WHEN OLDER IF WE DO HAVE THE SURGERY? DOES IT HURT? HOW CAN HE DO NORMAL ACTIVITY ON A DAILY BASES WITHOUT CRYING? PLEASE some one help me with this he is my first child and i want to do the best thing possible. thanxs

Is there a presence of a small lump?
Have you noticed pain in his palm or swelling?
Is the thumb stuck in a bent position and cannot be straightened?
