Just the Facts: Abortion Because of Cancer
Posted: 04-24-04 00:10am
|
|
|
|
Induced abortion has no role in the
management of cancer of pregnancy. It
improves neither outcome nor treatment.
It is rare, but occasionally a woman may
have cancer and be pregnant at the same
time. There is no evidence of an
increased incidence of malignancy in
pregnant women, nor evidence that
pregnancy per se adversely affects the
cancer. Pregnant women with cancer are
treated the same way as a non-pregnant
woman with the same condition. If surgery
is required, it is performed as in a
non-pregnant woman. Cheomotherapy may be
given to a pregnant woman as indicated by
therapeutic protocols.
A cancer specialist has stated (irish
times 26/6/92) that “there is no evidence
that pregnancy makes cancer worse. There
is no evidence that termination of
pregnancy makes cancer better. All the
necessary treatment can be given under
specialised management”

will raise it up

Have you ever been pregnant????
I have & I can assure you that the
baby (note baby not foetus) is like a
little fungus - a very cute one but -
& it takes whatever it needs from the
mother's body even if that means that the
mother is left with insufficient for
herself. So baby needs calcium baby
takes, baby needs iron baby takes (mum
ends up with poor teeth, bones &
anaemic as well).
Therefore if the mother is ill with
anything at all her ability to get better
is diminished, moer so if she is having a
"hard" pregnancy (nausea etc etc etc) so
with all due respect to the irish times
& anyone else (oh & would that be
a catholic run newspaper by any chance??)
I would suggest that any woman who is
pregnant & also sick be guided by the
needs of her family, her self, & the
advice of her own dr as to what the best
decision to make is.

I imagine being pregnant is hard enough
without adding cancer to the load. And I
am sorry but I cannot imagine that chemo
is safe for a pregnant women anyway. Nor
the medication necessary for cancer
patients. I find it hard to believe that
someone would actually publish that
information. Very silly.

Purple-you do not need to make offensive
remarks such as "so with all due respect
to the irish times & anyone else (oh
& would that be a catholic run
newspaper by any chance??)"
as someone from an irish catholic family I
found that bloody rude-you shouldnt
automatically presume things-not all irish
people are catholic or religious.
Thank you

Something like 95% of irish people in eire
are catholic so my making the suggestion
that the newspaper was catholic run is
hardly a huge leap of "faith".
Would you have taken offense had I said
& with all due respect to the sydney
morning herald?? & would that be a
catholic based paper by any chance?? No,
you wouldn't you're incensed over the fact
that the article quoted happened to be
irish & you happen to be irish
catholic. Your problem not mine & not
that of any baby aborted or not.

Purple was not trying to offend anyone,
she was just asking a valid question.
And the fact is that most catholics ignore
the facts to "preserve" their religion.
I am totally on purples side on that one,
and she was not trying to be rude, just
honest.

Actually, I have always thought being
pregnant would be like having cancer if
you didn't want to be pregnant -- a growth
inside you that is threatening to take
over your life.

Because I have "studied" the catholic
religion. And no, I am not catholic!
Goodness no.
You need to stop getting so defensive.
It makes you seem really immature. I do
respect your opinions as well as the other
intelligent people on this site, so please
don't start an argument with me. It is
not in either of our best interests, trust
me.

Purple, not only have I been pregnant I
have had an abortion not only have I had
an abortion I have researched the subject
of abortion on all aspects and since it is
medical fact you do not need an abortion
to treat cancer and there is no evidence
pregnancy effects cancer and the treatment
of in either way, I don’t know how you can
argue your point (if you indeed have one)
using again an entirely different aspect
of pregnancy.
May I please request you do not. –try-
and make my threads into a place for
religious debate and argument, it is
neither the place nor helpful to women who
are considering abortion – that is what
you are trying to do, help women
considering abortion? Or are you here
simply to confuse people on the facts?
Since you obviously have some sort of
problem with religion (even though I
myself am not religious I don’t have a
problem with them) are you in fact a
satanist trying to offer “assistance” here
on this board in the hope these women and
children obtain an abortion so that you
can then offer those abortions as a
sacrafice to satan?
Abortion being the greatest of satanic
sacrafice as it is the sacrafice of human
blood and of course child sacrafice.
Having researched abortion on all aspects
I know there are a lot of satanists
involved in abortion to differing degrees.
Satanists on such a board as this is a
very, very real possibility….. Please
keep religion out of this!!!

Oh. You are one of the ones who regrets
the abortion, and you are just generously
trying to make sure no one else has the
chance to make the same mistake?
Probably a very large percentage of women
who have had an abortion wish they hadn't
had to do it. Many will regret having
done it.
Unfortunately, in our child-centric
society, it is not acceptable to regret
the decision not to have an abortion.

Poopoopoo,-and you are just generously
trying to make sure no one else has the
chance to make the same mistake?-
your judging me! I am simply giving
facts and truths and letting them decide
it seems it is you who wish to keep the
truth from people....Maybe to make sure no
one has the informed choice in case they
decide not to have an abortion.

That was a childish response. Did you
even read what she wrote? Way to prove
her point.

Samie I don't understand you. You come
on here and posts facts, fine. Purple
simply gives the other side of the facts,
fine. Then you get all defensive and
crappy about it. But, then you start
accusing purple of bringing religion into
this and trying to "assist" women in this.
You make no sense whatsoever. Do you
even read posts before responding?
Purple, me and jesse and some others only
come on here to keep it what it is suppose
to be. But since prolife people will not
stay off of here it makes it impossible.
This is a place to learn the facts. The
facts of having an abortion versus having
the baby. Anything else is irrelevant to
this forum. But, if we do not come up
here and stick up for women's rights then
no one would be able to come here at all
for information! So, you need to pick
which side you are on and stay there.
Posting your abortion facts is absolutely
fine and dandy, but you need to understand
that others can post birth facts also.
Stop being childish.
And sparkly, grow up.

I think it is not childish, women come
here to get facts on abortion not
childbirth, I am giving them the facts on
abortion they request, you on the other
hand give them facts on child birth
something they dont ask for, it seems to
me you are trying to convince women to get
an abortion.
I have read posts where some of you have
told girls they should have had an
abortion even though they chose to keep
the baby and are perfectly happy in their
choice simply because of age, money or
education problems.
If you were to go on the child birth forum
and post the same way you do here you
would be exposed for what you are, here
you disguise your self as choice

decency"

"the greatest satanic sacrifice"? Wow, if
that isn't off topic, I don't know what
is...I dunno, never really thought much
about satanists. I've known a couple, but
don't think they were really much into
sacrifices...Just wore a lot of black. I
think the mayans used to sacrifice
children, virgins, that sort of thing, but
they weren't satanists, just worried about
rainfall from what I
recollect...Hmm...Satanic sacrifices...Is
that for the satanist equivalent of lent?
Like, giving up sadomasochism for forty
days? Or forcing yourself to help little
old ladies across the road? Or perhaps
you are suggesting that anyone who has an
abortion must be possessed by satan? But
does satan get the souls of unborn
children too? I guess that feeds in to
the life-begins-at-conception theory.
Maybe christians really need to start
baptising (or is that just catholics?) as
soon as they know they are pregnant, just
in case they miscarry, wouldn't want your
foetus to go to hell, and all....
