I'm at school in the library. I just dropped Rowan off at the daycare (which is in the school) and there was a letter in Rowan's cubby.

I get subsidized daycare for being in school, and because I'm poor. Well the letter said it's being terminated. I have no idea why. There are gross teen moms who bring their kids to the daycare smelling like smoke, who drop them off then leave the school to go smoke and be gross.

I like school, I'm passing everything, doing well. I have plans. This is really bumming me out, because now I can't come back next term.

You need to investigate why you got that letter. You may be able to extend your daycare. You should for sure fight it.

Why did they say the daycare was discontinuing?

I have one term left. Ingi the letter didn't say at all. I showed it to someone else who said they can't do that without a warning. They are going to discontinue it on the 28th, that's in 18 days. The letter says I have to give the daycare two weeks warning, yet they only let me know 18 days before terminating it. How in the %^&* am I expected to find other arrangements in that short a time. I think it might be because I had to keep Rowan out of the daycare three times when she was sick, so they might think they are paying for too many days that she wasn't there.

I will go in and explain to them about the ashma, and all the other times she was sick (because she has been sick a lot of times and the say care didn't let her come then), and bring letters from my teachers saying I'm doing well and that I'm a good student. If they don't change their mind I'm so screwed, I don't even know what I will do. I had to keep myself from bawling all day.

Like you should see the other girls from my school that have kids in that daycare. Their disgusting.

So the letter is from the state then? This letter is your 'warning'.

Call your case worker and ask her what you need to do to continue the service. More than likely it is not going to end, they send these letters sometimes to scare you into bringing in a whole bunch of papers, etc.

Did you take her to the doctor on those days so you might have a doctor's note? If not, still do everything you are planning on doing, letters from teachers, etc.

(((hugs))) It is all going to work out.

I agree with Ingi!! 100%!

If you show them your great pregress in school, and the fact that Rowan was obviously SICK, they should have no reason to discontinue your services!!

That's not right.

I hope everything works out for you Tanya!!!

"Your childcare subsidy for Rowan at PCI will terminate effective January 23rd, 2008 (I thought it was the 28th until I just reread it). This provides the daycare with the required two week notice. If you have any questions regarding this decision, please call me at..."

That is not a warning, it means this letter has given the daycare it's two weeks notice, and they have a waiting less so they will definitely have Rowan's spot filled right away. The teacher's I've talked to have promised me notes for Monday, so that is when I can go in and do something about it. I'll call in a bit and tell them I can bring in my marks and letters from my teacher. I can't go back and get proof of Rowan being sick though.

You should at least call and ask for a reason.

They're prob not expecting you to respond and to just obey their command.
Nowadays, the more you complain, the more you get! LOL!

First thing to do is to find out WHY they terminated you. Then work within those parameters. I mean, you obviously still need the assistance and it isn't like you are dropping her off at daycare and not going to school!

That angers me off! I really hope something is done about it, because that should not happen. Especially since you're IN school...they have no reason to terminate the subsidy. Ridiculous.

I should have just listened to Ingi, when I called they told me I just needed to go do some freaken paper work.

I was talking to my teacher, asking her to write me a letter, and I started bawling so hard. Boy don't I feel silly now.

My one teacher wrote a letter for me right away, and she said really good things about me, which made me cry.

And all this time all I needed was to go fill in some stupid paper work. Why couldn't they just say that in my letter!

Basically I spent all day crying and stressed out over this. And it's going to be fine! I feel so stupid for having a melt down at school now. : (
