Diflucan And Pregnancy
Posted: 01-11-08 10:37am

Hello, I think I may have a yeast infection. Sex started to get a little painful the last couple of days and last night and today my discharge started to look clumpy like cottage cheese. The odor is strong but doesnt smell bad. It just smells strong.

My doctor gave me medication called Diflucan just to have in case I needed it. Its a one time pill to treat yeast infections. Can I take this while pregnant? What about over the counter treatments?

I am allergic to Monistat, are there any other products I can use?

I think if your doc gave it to you it should be safe enough. I'm sure the benefits out weigh the risks.

If you have a primary doc you should be able to call or at least have them let you know what class the med falls under. Meds are classified into classes where some are perfectly safe to take while pregnant and some are not.

Good luck! Yeast infections are the worse. In the meantime you can get plain yogurt and use that?

yeah the pharmacist just said the take it if its absolutley necessary. I cannot take most over the counter meds either, thats why I have always needed to take a pill to treat my previous yeast infections. And I know what a yeast infection feels like, so I will take it, its necessary in this situation.

There hasnt been studies yet to prove its harmful.
