Is This Bad?

i know your not supose to put a baby to
bed with a bottle, but the ONLY way i have
been able to get val to eat lately is to
make a bottle put her in her crib and
leave, she will finish it in less then 5
minutes, if she happens to fall asleep, i
ALWAYS go in after 5 minutes and take it
from her if she fell asleep and her head
is elevated because of her reflux
so is this really bad, ive just been at my
wits end because the last few days shes
had maybe 10-15 oz a day thats IT and it
worrys me
if i try to feed her she will just play or
scream so last night i tried putting her
in her crib with the bottle and it worked
and its been working all day so far shes
already had 12 oz, so were off to a good
start today
so what do you think? is it ok?

I don't see a problem with it. As long as
it's not left in her mouth to drip and rot
her teeth out. I'm not sure how old she
is, but sounds old enough to use the
bottle on her own, so try not to fret. At
least she's eating!

You will create a habit that she needs
this bottle to go to sleep. But if that
doesn't bother you then don't worry about
it.

Babies don't starve themselves. If you are
feeding her solids, she doesn't need a lot
of formula. At 7 months she should be
transitioning to solids.

I agree witn Ingi. This WILL create a
habit. My best friend has an 11 month old
that WILL NOT go to sleep without his
bottle in his crib.
Even if the bottle isn't in her mouth, the
left over milk that she drank WILL rot her
teeth.

i've done the exact same thing with
william. his teeth are clean and healthy.
william's also got to the stage where he
doesn't need a bottle before bed, just a
blanket. i wouldn't worry about it too
much

Just because people do give bottles and
their kids baby teeth are healthy, etc -
does not mean any pediatrician is going to
advocate giving bottle to babies while
they go to sleep. This is a terrible
pattern and habit to give your baby.
Children at 7 months should be taking in
approximately 20 oz of formula. However,
they should also be eating solids
approximately 3-4 times per day.
All kids diets fluctuate. Like they'll eat
nonstop for days sometimes and then they
will hardly eat a bite. This is natural
and it coincides with growing spurts. A
child's body is hungrier and needs more
nutrition when it is growing. When that
growth spurt is over, the child doesn't
need as much.
Keep an eye on what she eats and how she
eats it. You'll see a pattern. With my
daughter, some days she would hardly eat.
We eat a really healthy diet, so I know
she was getting all the nutrition she
needed regardless of how much she was
eating. Don't get caught up in the
numbers. Let your daughter lead the way on
when she is hungry and when she isn't.

Yes. Any of these moms will tell you that
their babies/kids do the same thing.
Being a mom is hard. That is why we have
to ask questions.
I researched nutrition for my daughter,
made all my own baby food, fed her whole
grains, vegetables and limited fruits (as
they are mostly just sugar) and worried
constantly because she was so very tiny.
17 lbs at a year!
I sat back and watched how she ate and
realized she ate a ton - when she was
growing - and then she scaled it back.
Bodies are amazing at knowing what they
need when they need it.

how about water in a sippy cup once in a
while? just asking. i'm not at this
stage yet so i'm just asking. my doc told
me to give eadie water from a normal cup
every once in a while because the air gets
so dry in the winter here. she is still
only breastfed with a little cereal here
and there but she takes water from a cup
if i hold it for her and take it slow.

Both of my children had a bottle when they
went to bed and they both have beautiful
teeth. They are 5 and 12 and they both
have never even had a cavity. I really
don't see how it is a terrible
habit......for me they each never had a
soother so this was the one thing that
really comforted them. I also didn't have
a hard time to ween them off the bottle.
To me I think that you should do what
works for you and what you are comfortable
with. Just know that it is not terrible to
give your baby a bottle at night. Some
babies are fine without one and others
need that extra little "security" .
Good luck!!

I don't understand.
If nobody sees it as a problem, then why
doesn't anyone inform their pediatricians
and/or dentists that they let their babies
sleep with a bottle?? Because it's NOT
healthy.
I mean, it's not going to KILL your child,
but it WILL start bad habits. Starting at
6 months you should be brushing your
babies teeth (or swabbing their mouths if
they don't have teeth), to remove all
extra milk. It WILL rot their teeth/future
teeth.
I guess I'm different when it comes to
that because my mom is in the dental field
and I've seen pictures of children whose
parents allowed them to sleep with a
bottle. Seeing a 2/3 year old with silver
teeth is NOT something I advocate.
