Her last time going in she was at 1cm, 70% effaced(I think she mentioned that in one of her posts).

She texted me to say that she was 3 1/2cm and 80%!!!!

I'm sure they'll keep her, but she wasn't sure!!!!

I'll def keep everyone updated...wait, she's texting me NOW!!

They're making her walk around L&D for an hour, then they're going to check her again!!!

Ok, I'm really pissed right now guys. I'm currently back at home. I was still contracting when I left. He let me walk for fourty minutes and since I didn't progress any more in that amount of time he told me I could go home. I swear, I'm going to end up having this baby at home at this rate. I understand that he doesn't want to give me pitocin but the nurse even said that with how my cervix and everything is that it's not going to take much for my water to break. She said that it's very anterior and she barely has to reach for it. Now, I'm having bad contractions again and I just have to sit and play the waiting game. Bad thing too is that a lot of my pain is in my back so here comes back labor.

I'm just livid right now. He sent me home with some darn ambien again, which didn't work the first time he gave it to me. I want him to have contractions for 10 weeks and then get sent home to deal with it. Gas is expensive and I live 45 minutes away from there. Why can't he understand that?

The pain is in your back because she is sunny side up.

It is probably better to be at home laboring than walking around a hospital. You can at least moan and groan all you wat at home. Wait a few more hours and go back. It is obvious, at this point, your labor isn't going to stop.

One GREAT thing for back labor: get your crock pot and put some HOT water in it. Turn it onto HIGH to start and put some wash cloths or hand towels in the HOT water. Have your husband use these warm washclothes (wrung out of course) on your back, with pressure. MMMMM, that is the best. Plus, they are always at the ready, since they are 'cooking' in the crock pot.

Another thing to do to help speed things up: Get on an exercise ball and roll your hips around in a circular motion. This helps gravity pull the baby down.

WORST THING TO DO FOR LABOR is to lay on your back! If you sit in a chair, sit in a kitchen chair backwards and have your husband rub your back and apply pressure when the contracts start.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice Ingi! I don't mind being at home as I'm trying to go all natural. I'm trying very hard. I know that the chances of problems occurring with the epi are rare but I want to know that I can do this. I'm just tired of having to ride back home just to go back in. I've pretty much been having contractions all week now. I know I'm in labor-I've known for the last couple of days that this was coming. I'm gonna have to try the washcloth thing Ingi.

I can tell she's sunny side up too because her little hands still rub right against the front of my pelvis all the time. She was doing that in my ultrasound four weeks ago. Every time I have contractions I have the back pain with it but today it's been horrible. I'm just really thankful that she waited this long but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ready.

I hope this one flips. I don't like back labor. It feels horrible. I'm about to take a shower to try to relive some of the pain and just so I can get clean in general just in case. I'm pretty sure I'll be going back in so we shall see.

Gabe was sunny side up, too. He was born that way, though. Never flipped. & I pushed for 3 hours. I hope to god you don't have that kind of luck, Stef! You're gonna do GREAT. I took a hot shower in the awesome shower I had in my L&D room, & it really helped! Good luck & keep us posted!

She's been a tough one. If I don't go back before morning I'm gonna go out with my mom and walk somewhere. The pressure just ridiculous. I think that my doc just didn't want to be at the hospital on a friday night. I really hope my water breaks soon so I have to make him come in.

Laura-you are so telling the truth. It looks like since I was having contractions already and I was almost 4 that he would have went ahead and gave me something. It probably wouldn't have taken too long with a little help.
