Primary Amenorrhea with normal hormone levels Posted: 01-12-08 21:38pm
i'm 16 yrs. old and have never had my
period. for the past three years i have
been getting really severe abdominal and
pelvic cramps once a month. other symptoms
are: nausea, vomiting, acne, back pain,
and sensitivity to cold. i usually have to
miss school several times a month and i've
missed countless birthdays and parties.
i have recently been diagnosed with
primary amenorrhea and the doctors are
trying to find a cause. i have been
checked for an imperforate hymen, but the
results were normal. i have been getting
lots of blood tests done to have my
hormones checked but they've mostly turned
out normal. the testosterone test was
slightly high the first time, but when the
test was repeated it was normal. an
ultrasound has been done to check from
tumors, but there are none. according to
every test i am perfectly normal. yet i
keep getting "sick" once a month, and i've
never had my period.
my endocrinologist(sp?) put me on PROVERA
for ten days to try and trigger a period.
yet, he's still unsure of the cause of my
condition.
if anyone can shed any light here i will
be more than grateful.
