health insurance for baby Posted: 01-13-08 15:51pm
My boyfriend and i were talking and were
wondering about the hospital bills after a
teen gives birth, is it covered under the
teens parents insurance? Also health care
for the baby, if the baby gets sick or
what not is that also covered under the
parents of the teen? Just curious...
Thanks,
Stef

Her hospital bills are covered by the
parents insurance, but the baby is not.
The mom will have to get the baby on
insurance, or pay all medical bills in
cash.

Not all parents' insurance covers that.

you have to have the parents find out,
most cover you if your on your parents
insurance but the baby will have to get on
medicaid or something else. You can always
apply for medicaid or whatever the health
dept offers while you are pregnant and
then add the baby

I was 18 when I had my son and was covered
on their insurance up until EXACTLY 6
weeks after birth.
However that was military. You can always
discuss this with your parents... find out
their coverage... even with coverage
having a child can be verrry expensive.
Get ahold of their primary carrier... and
call their customer service line. You can
get all the benefits explanations sent to
you... or have them answer all your
questions over the phone..
I am sure they would be more than willing
to help!
Just know even with insurance it can be
very expensive...
I have insurance thru work and had a
miscarriage and even with insurance have
$3000 in bills!
