dreaming I can't breathe and pain in head Posted: 01-14-08 06:20am
I started having these awful dreams a few
weeks ago, i've had them every night
since. The dreams are more or less the
same every time. Its quite difficult to
explain so im sorry if i confuse you.
I dream that i am asleep, and i cant wake
up, in my dream i cant breathe or i have
terrible pain in my head, sometimes feel
like my head is being crushed.
In my dream i am trying to shout at my
partner to wake me up, but i cant get the
words out, i feel like i am going to die.
When i really do wake up, i cant move for
a few seconds and i try and stop myself
from falling asleep again but i cant. And
then it all starts again. It happens 5 or
6 times a night until i manage to get a
few hours rest.
I am so scared now, i really dont want to
sleep again ever. I'm starting to wonder
if the pains in my head are really there?
But i definately don't get them when i am
awake. I cant go on like this. If i sleep
through the day i'm fine, but i have 3
children aged 11, 8 and 2 so thats not
really an option.
I cant cope with this anymore and i'm
scared that im going crazy. How can i stop
it? Please help

Is this episode of dreaming happening for
the first time?
Have you been experiencing other sleeping
problems before?
Are you going through stressful period of
life?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I've never experienced this before or ever
had sleep problems. I have suffered alot
with depression (started as postnatal) but
i have it under control and am not on meds
at the moment.
Theres nothing particularly stressful in
my life, apart from 3 kids lol.
I'm just shattered all the time due to
lack of good sleep and its affecting
everything i do.

Do you usually have this experience when
you are about to drop off to sleep, or
just upon awaking from sleep?
Do you get a feeling of 'presence'?
Do you feel an intense sense of dread and
terror when you have these episodes?
